Christmas Nephew B Finish

Nephew B can rest easy tonight! I finished the binding a couple of night ago on his Christmas quilt.

Shhhh...he asked for the quilt but it should be a little bit of a surprise when he unwraps it. :)

Green Crumb is a Flimsy

I finished piecing the green crumb to a flimsy!

I think it needs a new name~I kept having visions of Creme de Menthe Brownies and Oreo Mint Blizzards as I was piecing this. I was going to use a light tan or possibly grey sashing but DS thought the chocolate brown was a better look for the green crumbs. Er, Mint Parfait....hungry yet?!

Unfortunately the backing I was going to use, doesn't seem to work. I should go into the closet and piece a creative backing. Right? in the spirit of using the stash...will look for those odd ball greens to use!

Off Center Log Cabin Quilts

Judy, a guild friend, had shared her Off Center Log Cabin quilt design so I thought I would make two. One for a niece and nephew from the same family...I don't think that the parents read the blog so I should be safe posting these pictures. I'm not sure when the kids will receive the quilts...maybe Christmas but I'm not sure as the date was opened ended as to when I would complete them.

The niece quilt: She likes purple, neon green and blue. Enjoys soccer and non girl-y things. I went for the purples and blues and soccer.

The nephew quilt: He likes red, blue and black. Likes basketball but not baseball! I used some of the same blues as in the sister's quilt and tried to keep the reds closer together in values. I was hoping the pinwheel pattern would be more predominate on the second quilt.

Hope the kids like their quilts!

A Few Pictures!

Well, I downloaded Picasa to the new computer. At the rate we were restoring the files, it would be a looong time before the process is complete!

First up: The *maid* costumes...headless to remain anonymous! It was a cold and windy night for Trick-or-Treating here, so the girls were able to wear the aprons over the winter coats. As a bonus, I have an apron ready for when I cook!
Pattern is Vanilla House Designs, Four Corner's Apron.

Second: The Jiffy Tote to carry DD's basketball shoes to the games. Her Sever's Disease is still bothering her so she has assumed the role of *official scorekeeper* until her heel heals completely.

Stash Report Week #44 & #45

In all the excitement of the new computer, I neglected to account for the stash last week. The previous week was a good one, with no fabric added and I finished a Jiffy Tote for DD. No pictures yet as the resident computer guru is organizing the new hard drive. :) This past week I decided to change the patterns for two of the nephew quilts which meant adding more fabric. I did finish one niece quilt which will help the totals.

My report:

Fabric added: +10 yards
Fabric added year to date: +234.5 yards

Fabric used: -10.5 yards
Fabric used year to date: -284.5 yards

Net fabric for the year: -50 yards (used)

What I accomplished last two weeks:
  • made Jiffy Tote
  • pieced, quilted and bound Niece quilt
  • pieced Nephew quilt to a flimsy

Goals for next week:

  • quilt and bind Nephew quilt
  • start on another Nephew quilt

I was aiming for 100 yards of stash used~I'm half way there with only a few weeks to go. Better get sewing (and stop adding fabric) if I hope to get to my goal. :)

I'm Back...Sorta

The computer guru turned computer shopper on Sunday afternoon! We now have a spanking new system here at Bell Creek Quilts!, well, really the house. and with that, is a learning curve... The computer guru worked his fingers to the bones setting up the new system and emails. He simply ran out of time before being able to install Picasa, figure out how to import pix and where to plug in the microphone for DD's music. I am happy to be able to surf the web again! The other *stuff* will come with time. Unfortunately, DH is away on a business trip this week~so pictureless posts for now :(
