Design Wall Monday

In July, 2011, Cher gifted the FAB friends this panel and a sampling of the companion fabrics, from Wisconsin to Alabama to Oregon (x2!) to British Columbia, Canada we stretch.

Saturday was *our* day to meet online to chat and sew!  it is very rare that all five of us are in one place at any given time to chat~what fun we had.  :)   Each also sewed as long as she was able.  I had to leave the sew-in early to pick up DD from her sleepover.

I didn't have a plan where I was heading with this quilt except that I wanted to have 9 patches as an alternate block.  I simply *let it happen*.

I cut the panel like this.

I then added as I went along.  I wish now that I would have framed the smaller animal blocks totally in black so as not to lose the 9 patches in the sea of darker blue.  I also wish that I had made the bottom black border wider, too.  I did add black, the light blue in the border and both the green grass and dark blue in the 9 patch fabrics.

I am not a pattern designer and now I know *why*!  I have a new respect and admiration for all you pattern designers out in blogland~well done, my friends!

Well done on designing patterns! :)

Friday Finish Week 25

This week's finish is brought to you by my darling daughter.  She decided on Wednesday night that she wanted to make a fleece tie blanket as a girlfriend birthday gift for a sleepover party today!  So yesterday after school we went to JAF and she picked out the fleece.  After supper, she cut and I helped tie.  Two hours later~a completed tie fleece blanket.  Its in the range of 54 x78.  BTW, darling daughter slept with it last night to give it a test sleep.

The report:  perfectly cozy and warm!  :)

Stash Update Week #17

Nothing in, nothing out, no finishes.  Sums up my week!

prep for Saturday sewing day

Today is Game 2 of the playoffs for the Milwaukee Admirals.  We lost Game 1 on Friday.  :(
Best of 5 games this year so the Ads need to win or our season will be over....

Here's our guy, #36 Brodie Dupont getting a little physical with an Abbortsford Heat player.  BTW, #4 Scott Ford recieved a 2 minute minor and a 10 minute game misconduct pair of penalties for his part in the scrum...

WIP Wednesday

I started making the blocks for the 'Spaceships on the Go'.

This is the set as in the pattern.

I wasn't totally *sold* on it. So I re-arranged a little bit thinking I might like it better if the orange print was every other block.

Now~I'm not so sure which layout I like better.  Each will have sashings of the light blue. I do know that I want to increase the size so that the quilt finishes at about 53 x 63.  A quilt the baby will grow into to.  :)

The Week That Wasn't...

...with DD home on spring break from 7th grade, not much sewing was done.

All I managed to sew was this rainbow wonky star label.  I actually pieced the star and sewed it onto the quilt!  Now the quilt is READY to be gifted!   :)

I'm So Happy!

all we needed was a new modem!

I actually did the *honors* of plugging it in and the modem worked!  :)  I do believe that I am one of the least techie peeps I know!  :)

Hurray for internet!  Now if I had only accomplished something in the sewing room to share!  :(

I found 'Baby on the Go'....pattern here: Web Bonus from Quick Quilts Feb/March 2012 issue

I think it will work...now to shop the stash for some fabric!  or maybe the quilt store for baby appropriate fabric!  :)

Rainbow Crumb!

I finished the binding on the Rainbow Crumb earlier today.  DD is a sweetie~and held it for it's *glamour shot*.  At 60 x 72~Rainbow Crumbs is just a tad bigger than DD!  :)

March Color Palette Challenge

When JudyL posted about the year long Color Palette Challenge, I didn't think I would join in. But them I saw her basket quilt, here and developed a serious case of *basket envy*.  Not fatal but I had the urge to make myself a basket wall hanging.

I found this May Button Wall Hanging from Joined at the Hip  (you will need to scroll down to the May Button Up picture!) on my friend's LindaJ's blog and thought I could make that!

Vicki provides the Color Palette and this was March's colors.

This is my basket quilt for the March Color Palette Challenge.  Now hanging in the family room where the Valentine Wall Hanging was!  The basket of flowers should be able to *hang around* for a spell.  :)  The yellow is actually brighter but is washed out in the photo....   :(....
To see other  March Color Pallete inspirations, click here.

To see *what* I was doing yesterday instead of sewing, click here.  make sure to scroll to the video portion and *watch*!  First man off the bench to aid Jeremy Smith is non other than Mr. Brodie Dupont~one of DD and my scrapbook players!  Brodie is so mild mannered when you talk to him!  :) Hard to believe he was first in the Super Scrum!

Design Wall Monday

This Monday my design space is my ironing board.  I have been making the Rainbow Crumb quilt parts.  :)
