Design Wall Monday

Seeing as I am still in Michigan, I'm hoping the design wall hasn't changed since I left.  :)

Are there quilt fairies who come into the sewing room when I am not there and complete my tasks?!

I'm Heading to the Mitten

Last summer I wrote this post about my Mom.  Well , she insisted she was NOT dying and only had a bad case of the flu.  Guess she was right all along!  as she just celebrated her 90th birthday in June!

This weekend, my 13 year old DD are heading out for a weekend at Grandma's....

from Wisconsin to Michigan...talk to you in a few days...  :)

I'll give Mom a kiss from you and let her toast her wine to you!  Thanks for all the well wishes, y'all!

WIP Wednesday~Thursday Edition

Not a whole to show this week.  :(

I decided to switch gears and work on one of my own UFO's rather than the Guild project shown in this post.  My next UFO is the Frog Simply Strips from Fabric Cafe. I purchased the kit at Quilt Expo 2011 in Madison, Wisconsin.  Since Expo 2012 is approaching quickly~I thought I would get this one moved along.

For a small quilt~it took me a while to get it to the flimsy stage.

What's on My Design Wall

A set of blocks that April from the Oconomowoc Quilt Guild made for a donation.  Her idea was to piece the blocks together for the center than use the *track* as border.  A few of us, me included :), thought perhaps we could leave the *track* intact and use her blocks as border.  I can tell I will need a coping inner border to get it all to fit...that just might take a little time and math.

Please excuse the bright sun spot~by 11:00 am the sun no longer shines on the design wall and excuse the swiffer in the corner~guess I didn't put it away in the closet the last time I Swiffered (is that a word?!) the floor.

Hope your Monday is a good one!

I quilted it with my new to me panto~Halcyon by Lorien Quilting~one source where I brought it is here.  Sharon asked for a feather-type quilting.  Hope it passes muster!  :)

Design Wall Monday

A few simple borders and ta-da...Spidey flimsy beta.  I used the leftovers from the borders of this quilt for the center panel.  :)

I really should have taken the time to hang it straight and flatten it out...but y'all get the idea, right?!

100 Quilts for Kids Link Up Party

Katie at Swim, Bike Quilt is hosting the *100 Quilts for Kids* Quilt Drive~see link in side bar.  :)

A Quilty Finish

I finished the binding on my latest set of the ISPY squares.  It uses 72 blocks!  No wonder I needed to mix in some non-animals with the animal novelties! My quilt holder is at a sleepover~oh to be 13 again!~so the garage door was pressed into service this am.

I first saw the pattern at Katie's Swim, Bike, Quilt blog. The original pattern is called Storytime Squares by Rae and can be found here.  I adapted the pattern a wee bit as my novelties are cut at 6.5 inches. The final size is approximately 50 x 70.

I quilted it with a new to me panto called Halcyon by Lorien Quilting.  I purchased the panto here.

It is hard to see so here is one shot.

and another.

Friday Happenings

In honor of the new Spiderman movie~I pulled put my Spiderman panel and fabric.  A few hours later...this flimsy is ready to go into *the to be quilted* pile.  :)

I also made bias binding for this quilt and am currently sewing the binding back while the laundry is going.  I am slowly creeping to a quilty finish.

I am going to link up with:  Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

The Rest of the Story...

...the Operation Snuggles Grab Bag quilts.

The quilt from Bag A, a rather straight forward framed novelty pattern.  Novelties cut at 6.5 inches, frames cut at 2.0 inches.  Unfinished block measures at 9.5 inches.

I quilted it with a *new to me* panto Dazzle from Lorien Quilting, which I purchased from here.

The quilt from Bag B. This bag had mostly blues/teals and a few greens.  I added the yellow and a few blues to round out the project.

I quilted it with an older panto, Daisies Galore, found here.

pattern source:  Jeri at Quilting in the Rain

The pattern is called Rainy Days.

These quilts are due at guild on July 19th!  They were NOT on my summer sew list but it is nice to have them done and ready to donate.  :)

Slowly...

...seems as the temps climb higher~I get slower...

I did manage to sew the labels on a few donations quilts.

I also sewed back bindings on the two Operation Snuggles grab bag quilts.

Quilt from Bag A.

Quilt from Bag B.

I'm still on vacation at my in-laws so I will get all the specs/links for the quilts once I arrive back at Bell Creek Quilts.

Until later...enjoy!

ps....I'm grooving to my MIL's clothesline! No quilt holder needed!  :)

On the Design Wall

The contents of Operation Snuggles Bag 2: various blues and one sneaky green.  :)

I added the yellow and a few blues to round out this project.  I actually made mine bigger as I had 6 rows across and 6 down. 6 across was the layout mistake!  Since I am not a big fan of square quilts, I added another row to the bottom. Unquilted the size is about 58 x 68, no borders.  of course, I was eyeing some 58 inch wide fabric for a back but now that will need a bit added to make it wide enough....oh well, sew be it....

pattern from Jera at Quilting in the Rain, Rainy Day Quilt   If you've never visited Jera's blog, you should take a few minutes and visit!  She has a wonderful collection of tutorials!  :)
