Second Finish in 'A Year of Lovely Finishes'

Completed just under the wire!

My second January finish ~ well, except for the hanging sleeve.  lol

This quilt languished on my design wall for nearly 4 months.  I am most definitely NOT a fan t*shirt quilts nor paper piecing.  I am very happy to have it completed to the hanging sleeve stage!  I made a few mistakes on this, er, design opportunities, right?  I have another panel of Milwaukee Admirals players' signatures so I'm thinking there will be twin quilt in my not-to-distant future.  After all, the 2013-2014 regular season ends in April!

I am going to use this tutorial for the hanging sleeve.

A Cell Phone Hockey Bag

For awhile, I thought I might have to collect cell phones from the hockey team DD plays on.  So, I made a cell phone hockey bag!

I followed the tutorial here, but made it a couple squares wider.  Wish I would have stuck with 3 blocks per side.  I recycled my old black denim jeans for the bottom and handles. The bag is a little flimsy for my liking.  I suppose I could correct that by either more quilting or using fusible...

For the upper zipper closure, I followed the tutorial here.  I was struggling with the zipper tabs, but found this tutorial here that helped me.  :)

by the way, I no longer need a bag for hockey cell phones ~ lol!

First Finish in 'A Year of Lovely Finishes'

Whoop! Whoop!

My first finish in 'A Year of Lovely Finishes'! I'm excited to have this finish to cross off the list!  True ~    it was only the binding that needed sewing but it had been waiting for the hand work since November 2013.

The wheels have fallen off my Finishing Wagon so I am trying to get back on track.  :)

This quilt is crumb blocks with an inset of tall wonky stars.  The wonky stars tutorial can be found here. It was the Block Lotto block in August of 2013.
I quilted it with the Ebb and Flow panto.

When the January 'A Year of Lovely Finishes' linky party is up...I'll link to that.

A Few to Review

I had a few finishes that I never blogged so this is a 'catch up' post.

In December, I finished a few of the Cancer Recovery Totes for my Day Guild.  I forgot to take a picture but the collection turned in for December 2013 are on display at the Delafield Public Library. The Library agreed to display the Cancer Recovery Totes to raise awareness of breast cancer in the Lake Area and to raise awareness of the Day Guild.

The Complete Collection of totes.

My donation totes have the ric-rac. And yes, I was on a mission to use the rid-rac.  :)

Here.

Here, too.

In the beginning of January 2014, I pieced this blue rail fence to decorate the half wall going downstairs.  I liked the inset snowflake material, but DD did not.

I quilted it with Sassy Snowflakes panto but left out the sass.

Here it is on the half wall ~ maybe DD was right, after all!!  :)

A Year of Lovely Finishes: January Goal Settings

 A Lovely Year of Finishes
I am going to join in at 'Fiber of All Sorts 2014 ~ A Lovely Year of Finishes'.

Today is the last day to join in the January Goal settings and link up party.  So this January 2014 I am going set a few goals.  My sewing time has been greatly reduced with my DD playing/practicing hockey so I need to re-set my goal making into a more achievable list.

January 2014 Goals:

1.  Finish binding on the Stars and Crumbs QOV.

2. Assemble the Miwaukee Admirals' T*Shirt quilt

3.  If finish 1 and 2: work on February placemats.

I still need to figure out which configuration makes the best heart when re-sewn with the tister tool.  :)

Skate Lace Bracelets

I made up a batch of Skate Lace Bracelets.  They haven't been selling as fast at the Milwaukee Admirals' games since another member volunteered to make 'Survivor Bracelets'!

But every little bit helps the Booster Club, right?!

My 105 'Skate Lace Bracelets' ready to go to the game for drop off.

The really cool 'Survivor Bracelets' on the table.
