WIP Wednesday

I quilted down my SIL's quilt, Apple Blossom Time using the panto,  Apple Blossoms by Lorien quilting.  Ummm...I'm sensing a theme here.  lol.

Here is her quilt.  Next up is the trimming and binding work.

Pattern source:  Apple Blossom Time in Fun With Nine Patches and Snowballs by Elsie Campbell.

Here is a close up of the quilting.  Towards the end of the quilting, I started *seeing* Mickey Mouse's head rather than apple blossoms.  I also thought the panto looked a little bit like a clover.

Here is the panto itself.  Apple Blossom panto by Lorein Quilting.

It's HANDS2HELP Time!

Confessions Of A Fabric Addict

For the past few years, Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict has hosted the HANDS2HELP quilt drive.  This year, she is also hosting it!  But you will need to hurry!  The first phase of signups close on Sunday, March 23, 2014.  If you commit to a creating and gifting a quilt --- you may win prizes!  Click over to Sarah's post and find out more!

This is Sarah's post where you may sign up and commit to create/gift a quilt.  She has three different options this year.  Read all about it here!

Some years --- I try a new to me technique in sewing.  This is a great opportunity to *try out* new things!!

This year --- I think I am going to make a coin quilt or two and try ---are you ready--- free motion quilting!

There are a few deadlines to meet but the sky is the limit with type of quilt to donate.  Big. Small. Girly.  Boyish. Baby. Feminine. Masculine. Gender Neutral.  Anything!

I think I am going to donate to her Project Sandy Hurricane Relief. This charity seems to be most open to any type of quilt.

Click on over to Sarah's and check it out....before it's too late to get in on the give-aways!  Of course, you may always donate a quilt!  :)

Whoop! Whoop! 3.14.2014

Gifted and Given!

The three coaches quilts are finished and we gave them away at Monday night's practice...the last practice of the season.

I quilted all three with the Happy Times panto.

I used the Mock Trip Around the World block and twisted it to make different sets.

The *Off Center Medallion*

The *Many Trips Around the World*

Unfortunately, I deleted the finished *Streak of Lightening -  Sideways* picture but this is a picture before quilting.  :)

yes, I am still technology challenged!  :)

Whoop! Whoop! 3.7.2014

I finished piecing the Coaches' quilts to flimsies!  I used the Mock Trip Around the World block and just twisted and turned to make different layouts.  - oh yeah!

The off center medallion  aka  *Offsides* in hockey talk.

The many trips around the world   aka   *Face Off Circles* in hockey talk.

The streak of lightening - oriented horizontally   aka   *Ladders* in hockey talk.  It reminds me of the skating drill from blue line to blue line.  I saw this layout at my friend, Linda's blog - Life, quilts and a cat, too - posted here.

Wednesday Woes

I was quilting along Wednesday night and *things* were going *okay*...

...until I realized the front of the quilt was longer than the back!! First time I did that! (and hopefully the last *grin*)

DD helped me un-zip and un-pin every thing so that I could sew on a little extra to the back.

Thanks, DD!!

I finished up at about 11:00 pm instead of 9:00 pm.  Lesson learned....not all fabric is 45 inches anymore.  :)

Design Wall Monday...3.3.2014

I've started sewing the Coaches's quilts.

My go*to pattern of recent:  Quilting Assistant's Mock Trip Around the World.

I placed the medallion off center for an *Offsides*!  little hockey humor there, friends!  :)
