Whoop! Whoop! 6.26.2015

I'm EXPLODING!

Well -- not me, but the number of Little Dress I have made!

My June UFO was to complete 25 dresses and I made 46!

I was #34 on the June Goal Setting Party.

I had quite a few donations of pillowcases that I was able to transform by following Nancy's Notion's pattern. I used elastic in the neckline since Baby DID NOT LIKE sewing over a thick neckline.

My total goal was to make 50 Little Dresses and I made 66!

I needed to take the pictures of the Little Dresses in installments.

I found this half set of Target wire cube shelving while cleaning and thought if I hooked them together flat-- I could use it to hang the Little Dresses and maybe quilts. (I was using the swing set but that is now a memory.)

I am on the lookout for a complete set in the house that is not currently in use to expand to quilt size cube wall…

Cleaning and Re-organizing...

…the card/scrapbook room, that is!

Since I finished Squirrel's (aka Viktor Ardvisson) scrapbook in April , I simply closed the door and started sewing. Well -- this week I decided it was time to tackle the makeover project! A friend of DD's gifted me a 12 x 12 paper tower and I brought a few more 12 x 12 smaller plastic bins -- I was ready! I sorted through all the paper scraps and divided them up…multi colored, warms, cools and b/w bins. It reminds me of how I sort through the scraps in the sewing room. lol. I tossed a lot of scraps that I thought were unusable and cut down others to a more usable shape. I also separated out the punches so that they all lay flat in the bins -- I had to add another over size bin!

All in all, it took a better part of three days to restore order.

DD walked in and exclaimed, "THERE IS A FLOOR!"

and

"LOOK! SO MANY DEAD LADYBUGS!"

A vacuuming picked up most of the visible *stuff*.  lol.

Along the way, I made some girl-y birthday cards.

Here is a close-up of some of the cards.

When I went to put them away -- I discovered that I already had girl-y cards made up. Such is life…now I have about 2 year supply. lol

Ta-Da!

The cleaned up and organized card/scrapbook room!

I REALLY REALLY want to sew but my sewing space needs a spruce up, too.

WIP Wednesday 6.17.2015

I picked up a few more pillowcases, a few from the thrift store and a few from our Little Dresses sewing day. I received word yesterday that the Mission Coordinator wants the Little Dresses in the beginning of July. So we are all making a final push at our homes and will meet up on June 30th to finish up any loose ends. I also asked DD to join us --- if she is not working --- to help count and size the dresses.

The current estimate is that we will be sending close to 350 Little Dresses with our Mission Team! Thanks to my friend, Betty! Betty and her church sewing group donated over 100  Little Dresses!

An Update…6.14.2015

I completed 10 more Little Dresses for Africa: Destination Swaziland!

I'm inching closer to my personal goal of 50 dresses made.

Pattern for the Little Dresses found here. I used the modified pillowcase.

What I'm Working On…6.10.2015

I started sewing a few of the pillowcase Little Dresses for Africa and they are waiting for a thread color change so that I can zig zag on the armhole casings.

It seems like *life* is keeping me from the sewing but not exactly *sure* what I'm doing!

lol

Whoop! Whoop! 6.5.2015

Bacon Stars is done!

and ready to be gifted -- well, we need to *ink* it (instead of a label)--

Here is the full shot of the front. I like the random star fabric as the outer border.

Pattern inspiration: Bonnie Hunter's Random Ohio Stars.

Here is a close up.

I quilted it with the Plumage panto.

Here is the long shot of the back.

I brought the last of the bolt of the pigs in the airplane --get it? Pigs Flying-- and DD was okay with adding to the sides to get it to the right width.

I tell you, some of the star fabric is pretty old and I finished some of it up. YAY!

I know for a fact that one of the star prints pre-dates my quilting days.  I know! gasp! I made DD a clown costume when she was itty bitty…

Just for fun…here is a close up of the flying pigs.

WIP Thursday 6.4.2015

The Starbuck's Mermaid is keeping me company today as I hand sew back the binding on Bacon Stars.

I love mixing new fabric with old fabric!

Some of the star prints have been around a looooong time.

Hands2Help Wrap Up 2015

The linky party at Sarah's Confessions of a Fabric Addict has been opened up to share the finished quilts for her Hands2Help Quilt Drive --> click button on side bar for more info!

I finished three quilts for Sarah's charities. I need to decide where these quilts will find their forever homes!

The first two are about 46 x 66 and were inspired by Jo's Country Junction. I blogged about the quilts here, complete with links that -- hopefully -- take you back to Jo's blog. :)

I was thinking about calling these quilts: Quarter Brick Wall.

Quarter Brick Wall *A*

Quarter Brick Wall *B*

I also finished the Heart Novelty Quilt. I blogged about it here.

This one is a little bigger at about 60 x 66. A fun take on an ISPY quilt and my box of 6.5 novelty fabrics is still full!  *sigh*

I see more ISPY quilts in my future with my little blue eyes…lol…

June 2015 ALYoF Goal

This month, I want to make 25 Little Dresses for Africa.

While technically NOT a UFO -- it is a goal that needs completing sooner rather than later as the Team is leaving for Swaziland on July 30, 2015.

Less than 60 days away -- I know some of the Team members are on the COUNTDOWN!

I have a wonderful stack of pillowcases waiting for their transformation.

We had a very generous friend and her church group donate over 100 Little Dresses. Our sewing team was told that there are about 400 pre-school age girls that would wear the Little Dresses so that donation is really boosting our numbers!

I am number 34 on the June ALYoF Goal List over at Fiber of All Sorts.
