I was glad I did it as I was looking to stretch my creativity within each round parameters. </p><p>Did I struggle a bit? Yes. </p><p>Did I stretch my creativity? Yes</p><p>Did I have fun? Yes</p><p>My project started out with a red, white and blue 16 patch star. As I was building this quilt, my iron started leaving dark marks on the white. So I brought a new iron (the old one also wasn't heating up well - so it was time for a new one!) But alas, the new one left dark marks on the white fabric too. </p><p>Any advise on removing the marks. I really really don't want to wash this one!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGY4dfRQI1xC5RUd9sEOTB3i0VyZOitP83iYtHoE9zKj3t-O4hDgoAIvXjju-gMrInpSDD-N5ROz_RjK_tdtUcFfnvJAqO-f3g1JxZoPfBPwmcuFuMR8vM6KM5xncZ3xqI0HNOhDxtnxWdPSjh2QZTl9zHxJPrPiT-QEDg2nTutloCuGQC8__ZwEr1FTc/s3311/IMG_8780.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3311" data-original-width="2749" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGY4dfRQI1xC5RUd9sEOTB3i0VyZOitP83iYtHoE9zKj3t-O4hDgoAIvXjju-gMrInpSDD-N5ROz_RjK_tdtUcFfnvJAqO-f3g1JxZoPfBPwmcuFuMR8vM6KM5xncZ3xqI0HNOhDxtnxWdPSjh2QZTl9zHxJPrPiT-QEDg2nTutloCuGQC8__ZwEr1FTc/w333-h400/IMG_8780.jpeg" width="333" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">pattern: Stay at Home Round Robin 2024</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">panto: serpentine</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sharing with <a href="https://quiltinggail.com/2024/03/17/sahrr-2024-the-parade/" target="_blank"> Quilting Gail's Stay At Home Round Robin parade</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitt-XGuauuhzuIprDILz37V2nz0UCOnsXwz6CqhN88THJFf9UcpaGSqZZ9OOK_gVScJI9130rEC6_M2nbton112kDk0OW__r65e1xidYkw8HnaPPl_ra3xLeta_D-oVWZg8ipB22s8f1mlbgTqgKSGXh8CzPHSqUa6i6yQWaPOeqvRK9rjbO-524DyfWc/s492/image.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="492" data-original-width="482" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitt-XGuauuhzuIprDILz37V2nz0UCOnsXwz6CqhN88THJFf9UcpaGSqZZ9OOK_gVScJI9130rEC6_M2nbton112kDk0OW__r65e1xidYkw8HnaPPl_ra3xLeta_D-oVWZg8ipB22s8f1mlbgTqgKSGXh8CzPHSqUa6i6yQWaPOeqvRK9rjbO-524DyfWc/w196-h200/image.png" width="196" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Pat at Bell Creek Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17792084000107771494noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3594995802886328590.post-11425600555096411822024-03-16T09:54:00.000-04:002024-03-16T09:54:59.712-04:00SoScrappy Saturday 3.16.2024<p>Today is the third Saturday of March of the color purple! A few of the signature blocks were only 7.5 inches across the pieced sections, so I trimmed all to match the smallest one. My pile of signature blocks is dwindling down. This pattern is from my friend, Rhesa. First I made the columns.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr7kU5VnKM3ORM8klzoHZj5IFXjKpMi3x4VKMCq9ZnS5TwIwcR8gF9hKADFzSrhX3n1KTnQPPoOd00kN0HJxQrEEtqYye5dBdvXeBVz9ueFOcUrjvD0igYm0RBlbKm7zWZhzgkLqHUYX4p0PY3zJ0RdfONhR7qAg_bc689ikW4RISQzmmYZtrZx2tFNIs/s3361/IMG_8758.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3361" data-original-width="2281" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr7kU5VnKM3ORM8klzoHZj5IFXjKpMi3x4VKMCq9ZnS5TwIwcR8gF9hKADFzSrhX3n1KTnQPPoOd00kN0HJxQrEEtqYye5dBdvXeBVz9ueFOcUrjvD0igYm0RBlbKm7zWZhzgkLqHUYX4p0PY3zJ0RdfONhR7qAg_bc689ikW4RISQzmmYZtrZx2tFNIs/w271-h400/IMG_8758.jpeg" width="271" /></a></div><div><br /></div>I then added the sashings (2.5 inch cut) and then the large outer border (7.0 inches cut) to bring the quilt to size. I normally don't like the large borders but this fabric is a busy one. Adding more squares either on the bottom or side just didn't work mathematically. In the end, I decided to split the remaining Signature squares and make two quilts with less squares. I guess I just wasn't feeling the 'please sign more QOV squares for me' the other day. LOL</p><p>Here is my current fabric gathering. The plan was to quilt down the tan squares QOV and start on this one Saturday. A leaking water heater sent into motion a whole different path for my weekend and Monday. I'm hoping I can catch up as next week is my self-imposed deadline to have the QOV Signature quilts done and delivered!!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsh54pKoyGHWzth_3ODYiYU7iL0pX2NVAesYBX5RERrtuwF6GIoSSS2PI7-hgxjUp5p89hAf3hqGQF0sMHrAcIrp-nQt9PZee9ZaQoX75DDnfTSzn8yHLsahcqhIUcAkjt8ymJS2ivY864S2PBfokqJSFMX15LOoHhMhAPWMkCEZMSt6DGhBn7M1tLZp0/s3084/IMG_8747.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3084" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsh54pKoyGHWzth_3ODYiYU7iL0pX2NVAesYBX5RERrtuwF6GIoSSS2PI7-hgxjUp5p89hAf3hqGQF0sMHrAcIrp-nQt9PZee9ZaQoX75DDnfTSzn8yHLsahcqhIUcAkjt8ymJS2ivY864S2PBfokqJSFMX15LOoHhMhAPWMkCEZMSt6DGhBn7M1tLZp0/w393-h400/IMG_8747.jpeg" width="393" /></a></div><p>Sharing today with<a href="https://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/2024/03/design-wall-monday-march-4-2024.html" target="_blank"> Judy at Design Wall Monday.</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCYmkxX_1zvgF9D1DNdslr6-4I2ZattvldwmUgaUL1NDB_Ej9AtmwmJSzDO7rkNeDBX03QXGw57rDCyJAwn8hF_ANdYpt2Oe2CsAM5_C7fzkWd8SnsvHXVybqNhteNc26e3c6YVuCifauAiIapnDZhiRIE5SYXuQbETSy-Q46y3iHpInJUHO13A5bfcxQ/s640/Judy_Button.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="636" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCYmkxX_1zvgF9D1DNdslr6-4I2ZattvldwmUgaUL1NDB_Ej9AtmwmJSzDO7rkNeDBX03QXGw57rDCyJAwn8hF_ANdYpt2Oe2CsAM5_C7fzkWd8SnsvHXVybqNhteNc26e3c6YVuCifauAiIapnDZhiRIE5SYXuQbETSy-Q46y3iHpInJUHO13A5bfcxQ/w199-h200/Judy_Button.png" width="199" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Pat at Bell Creek Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17792084000107771494noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3594995802886328590.post-969512555589489962024-03-02T14:55:00.000-05:002024-03-02T14:55:31.532-05:00SoScrappy Saturday 3.2.2024<p>Today is the first Saturday of March of the color purple!</p><p>Angela just announced March's color yesterday, so I was down in the sewing room working on the purples. I have a hankering to make a frog quilt! Instead I settled for a 'little bit of frogging' my seams on my round 6 of Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR)! </p><p>Kathleen is our leader for Round 6 and she picked 'letters' or 'numbers'. I immediately thought of the words 'HONOR' and 'COURAGE'. I tried to talk myself into something else but in the end, I mustered up some courage to piece the letters. First I graphed the letters using the block system and 6 inch finished. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghn9Se7NxhijbyJqhV_4oUIIUQoCbX0TJ-oXqmr9uP_G8QgbcwlPNxAfTKPAlHY8ECAsjvQjCB0clL7k8eL7ruvqvvH9EVv7dWO7hq1yuFfbGSiGOamh1PO21C1UsBUr_S6VeqWh5QoiNuNW3T_0b8QJ4eQF5n271pMsZ2Yrm8rUPwabSJq_CrERNXiRA/s2324/IMG_8744.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2324" data-original-width="1925" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghn9Se7NxhijbyJqhV_4oUIIUQoCbX0TJ-oXqmr9uP_G8QgbcwlPNxAfTKPAlHY8ECAsjvQjCB0clL7k8eL7ruvqvvH9EVv7dWO7hq1yuFfbGSiGOamh1PO21C1UsBUr_S6VeqWh5QoiNuNW3T_0b8QJ4eQF5n271pMsZ2Yrm8rUPwabSJq_CrERNXiRA/w331-h400/IMG_8744.jpeg" width="331" /></a></div><p>The 'R's' gave me a bit of trouble. I think after this set, I'm hoping I have enough for one more quilt in this round. :) I wasn't too excited about the tan with the flags print with the signature squares. Gail at Quilting Gail is our host for this round. Gail picked '4' as the theme for this border. You could pretty much do whatever you wanted but you needed to incorporate '4' in it. I took Gail's lead and made '4' Friendship stars as each Friendship star has '4' legs. I then used Lisa Sutherland as inspiration, <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/563018692555049/?utm_campaign=homefeednewpins&e_t=33b296c9ef964fb2b7b9e227bd505039&utm_source=31&utm_medium=2025&utm_content=563018692555049&utm_term=4&news_hub_id=5348619543881240181" target="_blank">found here</a> with '4' rails between the stars.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj46W_r-FHuKsj2rVqiYG11Yuadt4ykqYMRSIY0RANh7WkLuCPA4LbHCBFmbfqOtZUDOBv3KmUd9N7lz08PlnXGdpG-QLWYHcLRDoTPmPf0fe6KsihVHzyrwC7mPAhPd3UyhfdjVpt5LLBUDfhj8YZOPD_bqygogGNcA4g7UkFNa4KzPi-JIvAVlpW7w5w/s2726/IMG_8728.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2726" data-original-width="2176" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj46W_r-FHuKsj2rVqiYG11Yuadt4ykqYMRSIY0RANh7WkLuCPA4LbHCBFmbfqOtZUDOBv3KmUd9N7lz08PlnXGdpG-QLWYHcLRDoTPmPf0fe6KsihVHzyrwC7mPAhPd3UyhfdjVpt5LLBUDfhj8YZOPD_bqygogGNcA4g7UkFNa4KzPi-JIvAVlpW7w5w/w319-h400/IMG_8728.jpeg" width="319" /></a></div><p>Round 6 drops next Monday and it is the last border!</p><p>Sharing with <a href="https://quiltinggail.com/2024/02/19/sahrr-round-5-3/" target="_blank">Gail at Quilting Gail's Round 5</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiROD_9JGw8apTq9cLJKDM6mNWVqi7oueLpxQpeA34gcDMFL0Ip4IpiAFdkjPQQnM4EN-_50R6-0ik59AiFsEIeILyIvUCxx5sAOrv_yqtOJM0p75MUM0fha3j4yGg24cpn5PwsBgH3JHcWAlucUsnUm6w854cAVNTC5cL8o_kSrbhz2LtN0uA-u4Bdqjk/s200/screenshot-2023-11-13-at-3.44.58-pm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="200" data-original-width="196" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiROD_9JGw8apTq9cLJKDM6mNWVqi7oueLpxQpeA34gcDMFL0Ip4IpiAFdkjPQQnM4EN-_50R6-0ik59AiFsEIeILyIvUCxx5sAOrv_yqtOJM0p75MUM0fha3j4yGg24cpn5PwsBgH3JHcWAlucUsnUm6w854cAVNTC5cL8o_kSrbhz2LtN0uA-u4Bdqjk/s1600/screenshot-2023-11-13-at-3.44.58-pm.png" width="196" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Pat at Bell Creek Quiltshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17792084000107771494noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3594995802886328590.post-82324529324546327932024-02-21T15:15:00.000-05:002024-02-21T15:15:32.549-05:00WIP Wednesday 2.21.2024<p>I finished piecing the background for my Bear quilt. This was originally made for the 'If my birthday was in < March >' series and I had planned to donate it. But....I sewed a pleat into a seam and when I attempted to remove the stitches...I poked a whole in the dog fabric. RATS! I did patch it but...now it will belong to me! LOL I quilted it with the apple blossoms panto but they were looking more like alien toadstools to me. Oh well...it's mine so it's all good!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb3aDHeORCB_VJKl3hSPA8SDX9GYdZNC-zvciT61tzhzyj_YZAUihjeRU2k_2Ty_yvhHEMYxK442Uniy4BmdNKbn118bwOoMBETZTaz3rP6WZOwcPV2Wi9n0nzEAeeX8ykqem8s2z_bpE7bEupj7z2cRVYdUGensf5AFRaCFKobkuQKAQvGYKsmjmw8Jo/s4032/IMG_8704.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb3aDHeORCB_VJKl3hSPA8SDX9GYdZNC-zvciT61tzhzyj_YZAUihjeRU2k_2Ty_yvhHEMYxK442Uniy4BmdNKbn118bwOoMBETZTaz3rP6WZOwcPV2Wi9n0nzEAeeX8ykqem8s2z_bpE7bEupj7z2cRVYdUGensf5AFRaCFKobkuQKAQvGYKsmjmw8Jo/w400-h300/IMG_8704.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I also pulled fabric for the April Melon Heads presentation, the theme is applique. Not my strong skill. So I am going to prepare a quilt top and raggy edge applique a few bears on it. The bears will be made from some of my crumb fabric pieces. I've been wanting to make a little applique something to add to my crumb collection and this will fit both presentations. Brenda at Songbird Designs chose Square in a Square or On Point as this weeks prompt. I was not looking forward to this round. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDBf6fMgG4MScqOrshZtZ-YllDzkATcLaHxxLxbfmnSe7crbafFJR3aj4yJpcQyntINfK9j6-uXydaa1X9lfTU-xl-JSsddCPAJ8hYHh3e-66fgWwiTje-ckUHRUJdRKIpSm4UZmoBjCG7jD0a8XrpwedDUWBkh6035rkPYVuT4fjwoCBRLHUtME-17PA/s200/screenshot-2023-11-13-at-3.44.58-pm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="200" data-original-width="196" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDBf6fMgG4MScqOrshZtZ-YllDzkATcLaHxxLxbfmnSe7crbafFJR3aj4yJpcQyntINfK9j6-uXydaa1X9lfTU-xl-JSsddCPAJ8hYHh3e-66fgWwiTje-ckUHRUJdRKIpSm4UZmoBjCG7jD0a8XrpwedDUWBkh6035rkPYVuT4fjwoCBRLHUtME-17PA/w314-h320/screenshot-2023-11-13-at-3.44.58-pm.png" width="314" /></a></div><p>I first made my Square in a Square with the traditional method as I looked up the charts for the size cuts I needed. For a 4 inch finished blocks, cut the center fabric at 3 3/8 inch and the setting triangles at 3 3/8 inch and cut on the diagonal once. I did that, sewed a few together to check it out and when I went to square up...all points were going to be lost. Ummm...set this project aside.</p><p>I then re-cut a few inner squares to 3 1/4 inches and kept the outer triangles the same. Sewed a few together and this moved my points in so they appear to float...to me ~ sorta.</p><p>I made a whole slew of these little buggers. Sewed my first border...ummm. too long. Un-sew one block and add a spacer on either side of the row and ta-da! Round 4 is now complete!
