My finish today is my Lisa Sutherland's Wobble Sticks and Stars!

First is the flimsy.  One border cut at 5.5 inches...easy and sleezy!

WIP Wednesday 4.1.2026

I made the alternate 'wobble stick' blocks for Lisa Sutherland's Wobble Sticks and Stars quilt.

I did piece the center together but lookie...two of the blocks swapped places! It is NOW a design opportunity!

Design Wall Monday 3.31.2026

 I arrived back at Bell Creek Quilts yesterday afternoon. It was a much more pleasant drive I anticipated! :) 

On Sunday, DD, Angie and I went to Friends of Firefly Park in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and saw my second troll...MommaRosa! She is located in a fun park and Angie got lots of new sniffs. :)

I did head down into the sewing room and finished making the stars for my next QOV. I've been having a hard time wrapping my mind around these particular stars. They finish at 10 inches in the quilt...yea, my mind doesn't like the cutting of flying geese at 5.5 x 3 inches...

The next step is to make the 'wobble sticks'. This is a pre-release of the pattern to the FB QOV Working Stars group.

SoScrappy Saturday 3.29.2026

Yesterday was the 4th Saturday of March of the color red. I didn't create any more red projects but I did go to the Crazy Quilters Quilt Show in Mukwonago, Wisconsin and was on the lookout for red quilts! I was lucky to 'find' my Quilting Buddy and had a wonderful time wandering the show...just like old times, friend! :)

Here are a few of the quilts but I didn't take a picture of the makers...

One of the members of the Crazy Quilters, Carol Pilgrim gave a talk/bed turning that were patriotic quilts from her vast collection of quilts (both vintage and new-er!). Here are just two that I thought about re-creating.

Of course, I can never pass up an opportunity to write a message to our Veterans. I really am inspired by the way this group pieced the signature squares and stars around a panel. It's the un-expected ways to 'use what I have' that really help me in my quilting journey. 

I did take Miss Angie on a big brain activity Friday. She's so much happier when she can think. :) Who would have thought she would like getting an oil change, some new sniffs and a stop at the gas station?!

Finish or NOT Friday 3.27.2026

I don't think I ever shared my latest 1/4 log cabin finish. I made it to donate to my friend, Bernice who in turns gives the quilts to the local VA. This VA wants quilts 48 x 48. A few blocks and borders make up really quick!

I also realized that I never shared the ZigZag Zoom quilt I made for the January Howell MelonHeads demonstration. I used RWB again and stripped pieced the smaller color portions for a quicker sew. This one went to the MelonHeads Veterans (different from Bernice's and Michigan QOV) in February.

Stay at Home Round Robin...Quilt Parade 3.25.2026

 Today is the Quilt Parade for the 2026 Stay At Home Round Robin!

I used a few blocks from my QOV parts department that 'fit with' the prompts and created a QOV. I also elected to make the prompts into rows as a row quilt as that is 'easier' math for my brain. :)

I also put the borders on the current panel quilt. I went with the brown tones as the borders, just to change up the QOV!

Design Wall Monday 3.17.2026

Do you ever have a project you want to work on but need the 'leftovers' from another? This is the conundrum I found myself in...

I want to use the 'leftover' 3.5 in strips to use with this panel.

First I needed to finish up the 1/4 log cabin blocks from the February/March demonstrations.

I paired up my remaining strips and set to work.

I decided to use what I had and make a quilt for my friend Bernice who supplies quilts to the local VA. The VA wants Bernice's quilts to be 48 x 48.

This veteran's quilt left me with the 3.5 inch strips I needed for the panel quilt.

I sewed the 'leftovers' short end to short end, then cut the 'jelly roll strips' at 4 inches longer than the panel. I then sewed the strips together on the long side and straightened the one end. I sewed that strip piece (5 on the top and 9 on the bottom) to to the panel. Now to add my borders...

Today is the second Saturday of March of the color red. I decided to make more of my two color rails...this time red is paired with a darker gray.

Today's finish is my adaption of the Jumble pattern from Make It Scrappy 3 Yard Quilts. I wanted to use my extra Echo blocks I had made (and I made a few more!)

I picked up Baby from the spa/repair. This time is was repair...her plastic piece that kept the feed dogs in place needed replacing. She's about 19 years old. She's been a true and faithful companion in my quilting journey.

Today I headed to the sewing room to make a few red/gray 4 patches for the March RSC.

I did manage to finish my next QOV to a flimsy. This is an adaption of Jumble from Make It Scrappy 3 Yard Quilts. I used the few leftover Echo blocks from QOV Sew Day (and made a few more!) and made the Square in a Square blocks.

Finish or NOT Friday on Sunday 3.1.2026

This is a combination post of SAHRR -prompt 6 and Finish or NOT Friday...yes, I'm a little behind posting. Baby Brother's feed dogs stopped feeding and THAT stopped me! :)

Prior to no feed dogs, I had worked on my SAHRR. I was going to skip prompt 6 - provided by Anja as Quilter's Choice. So my choice is...the borders I had put on my SAHRR! It was while I was sewing back the binding on Baby, that the feed dogs and tension gave up the ghost. I tried 'my tricks' to get Baby back on track but alas, into the repair shop she went last week Wednesday...
