WIP Wednesday 5.27.2015
Over the weekend, I was able to finish sewing this red/white and blue flimsy. I enjoy sewing r/w/b and this is the first one of the year. :)
Block pattern: This is the handout I received at the April meeting of the Lake Country Quilt Guild. No block name or credit given. :(
If you recognize this block -- please let me know so that I can give credit where credit is due.
I just purchased backing for it -- but not sure when I will get it completed.
A litte sewing time for me!
This is the pattern inspiration, I google imaged searched * flamingo quilts* and this one appeared. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get it to re-appear.

Memorial Day 2015
The Call of Duty
A call to duty is sent out
and the strong and the brave reply.
They do it for love of country,
So there's never a need to ask why.
They leave behind all that they love,
Their families, their homes and their lives,
Because to preserve these precious things
Is the goal for which each soldier strives.
So God bless our troops,
The courageous women and men,
Who fight to make sure
The bells of freedom peal again.

What I'm Working On...
…This block was shared last month at Day Guild.
I made a few up but then decided to keep them! I thought it would make a nice QOV when set in vertical rows. :) I haven't made a QOV yet this year and I am missing the RWB!
pattern info: no name or designer given on handout.
Does anyone *KNOW* this block?
Thank You in advance!

Whoop! Whoop! 5.15.15
I finished two quilts for Sarah's Hands2Help quilt challenge!
Click on sidebar icon ---> to be taken to the Hands2Help information page! There is still time to be involved! Last year I won two charm packs and this year I turned them into quilts.
My quilts are about 46 x 66 so I think they will work for the Happy Chemo! charity!
I found this tutorial by Jo at Jo's Country Junction but what really intrigued me was how she prepared her back. :) Combine this idea with the fact that Lee from Freshly Pieced Modern Quilts just spoke at my day guild and the ideas started jellin' together.
Here is the first quilt made with the Little Black Dress charm pack.
Here is the second quilt made with the other charm pack.
I quilted both with the plumage panto -- I thought the negative space needed the texture a feather type panto would give.

Tote Bag Thursday
I made up a few tote bags to donate to the Day Guild in support of the Cancer Recovery Center at two local hospitals.
The first two, I used some of my floral scraps. I was very surprised when I went into the box expecting to find odds and ends but there! were 6.5 inch, 5.5 inch and 5.0 inch blocks!
The first tote bag, I used the 6.5 inch blocks -- I wasn't feeling it. :(
The second tote bag, I used the 5.5 inch blocks -- still wasn't feeling it…
The next set of tote bags, I switched to a printed canvas type material for the outside that I re-purposed from Goodwill.
Guess what? I'm still not feeling it.
:(
I hope six *someones* at the Cancer Recovery Centers are *feeling it* and like the totes. :)

(Even though it's Thursday --- are you feeling it?)

A Makeover...
…since DD is almost 16 and she will be getting her driver's license soon, we brought her a little SUV to drive around. DD asked that a vehicle has room for her hockey gear! :)
Her friend had given her this lanyard for Christmas 2014 but DH felt it was too dangerous with the extra length hanging down by her feet.
So…DD and I brought a package of parachute buckles and I took off the old hook and sewed on a buckle which releases. :)

More Crumb Blocks 5.4.2015
Happy May 4th! May the FORCE be with YOU!
I loaded too many long arm bobbins again, so…
…I went to work on sewing pink crumb blocks. 62 blocks later and I still had thread left on the big bobbins.
sigh...
This round:
Crumb Blocks -- 0 Bobbins -- 1!
On a side note:
An end of an era…DH took down DD's swing set. :(
