I finished the Blue Portuguese Tiles this morning. Just in time to be gifted tonight. I am thinking that I will simply ink our message on the back instead of a label, this time around!

Portuguese Tiles Progress
I decided to add one more row of Portuguese Tile blocks than the pattern called for. I wish I would have cut the blocks from yardage rather than fq's but I was planning on a different quilt for this set of blue fq's...so be it.
This is a 'stitch and flip' block and it was giving me fits. So I re-named it to a 'stitch and dip' block. Can you figure out why?!
In any event, I need to assemble the blocks then find 'something' suitable for inner and outer borders. I am seriously doubting if I can finish this by tomorrow afternoon. :(
I should have picked a pattern I had made before but I really wanted to try these Portuguese Tiles...

I got behind on my UFO challenge so this quarter I am going to concentrate on my personal projects. First though, I have two more promise quilts to make! you might notice that I am behind on my placemat making...I knew I was behind when my daughter wanted to know *where are the new placemats?! The last ones were the Christmas ones! and here, I thought the family never noticed. Perhaps they notice but don't say anything! :)
I have completed one UFO so I added another to the list...if a number comes up that is a *quilt*~I will simply piece the UFO that I was suppose to quilt as a swap. fair enough?
Off to the sewing room, hopefully after dinner tonight!

Happy Spring Equinox 2012!
Happy Spring Equinox!
Time to review my Winter 2012 Quilting Goals and set some new ones...I love these days! For me, it is like having a New Year every three months!
image from Google search, found here.
So~how did I do this last three months?
Not too shabby. If I hadn't pencilled in a few more quilts then I would have done LOADS better! and the *Uncle Paul from hockey Thank You* is pieced to a flimsy and awaiting quilting.
More shabby on my UFO's. Gosh, they are UFO's for a reason! I better work harder on them in the next quarter!
Overall...I think in the next few months that I am going to concentrate on projects for me...I'll write another list to post in the sewing room since it really helps to have the list close at hand...I LOVE to cross items off a list. :)
In the mean time: HAPPY SPRING EQUINOX 2012!

Stash Update Week # 12
A rather weird week for me, here at Bell Creek Quilts. My motivation was lacking. :( I did buy some flannel but I made 4 pillowcases~so it was in and out~doesn't change my numbers. I also brought more blue (like in my latest MTAW), here. I figured with the blue left over and another half yard~I should be able to make another MTAW, but then, I think I will need to add a bit of the grey and black, too. :)
I don't think I am thinking straight! :) Buy a little more and make another quilt...guess this is how the stash grows....
fabric added this week: +0.5 yards
fabric added this year: +77.5 yards
fabric used this week: 0 yards
fabric used this year: -81.5 yards
net fabric for the year: - 4 yards ~used~
What I accomplished this week:
pieced 4 flannel pillowcases
pieced blocks for Mock Trip Around the World
Goals for next week:
continue with the Mock Trip Around the World

WIP Wednesday
The sum total of my creativity for the last 5 days~
4 flannel pillowcases! My 21 year old son asked for a few flannel pillowcases. I was searching for age appropriate fabric but kept coming up empty. I finally decided to make a few retro pillowcases for him. As a young boy, he loved dinosaurs, lizards and green! I also tossed in a little blue....
If you find *my motivation*, please send her home~I'm missing her! :(
pattern source: McCall's Quick Quilts pillow case
(I skip the accent part :))

Mock Trip Around the World Blocks Completed
The blocks are completed and...
...on the design wall. The great thing about this pattern is that every block is the same! You only have to twist and turn to form the pattern. sweet. easy. cool.

WIP Wednesday
The nightmare, errr, saga continues.
I finished piecing the blocks together and now the mystery is a flimsy! yea! I think this needs a border or two to try and tame the bias' that are all pulled out of formation...right now it is mesuring 46 x 69...
and I am still NOT seeing stars.... :(
My next project will be squares and rectangles!!!!

Design Wall Monday...
...on Tuesday.
I trimmed up the 92 flying geese units that belong to the Lake Country Mystery. The mystery is the quilt~ One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by Pam See of Vanilla Latte` Quilts.
This quilt has the makings of becoming a nightmare for me! It has many sewing elements that I tend to avoid when quilt making such as half square triangles (pretending to be flying geese) and pieced setting triangles for the on point setting. *GASP*! I half kiddingly said that I am going to look for a stripe to use as binding so that I can make bias binding! If I had only thunk to paper piece *something* in it~then this top would have *checked off* a lot of my quilting bucket list....see side bar! :)
Here are the blocks, ready to be sewn into rows...suppose to be stars but all I *see* are x's in black boxes....uggghhhh....saga to be continued...

A Crumb Quilt
Jo over at Jo's Country Junction is hosting a Crumb Round Up. She asked to see the Crumb Quilt that was made during her Crumb Along or any other crumb quilt that you made. Well~I didn't participate in her Crumb Along but I have been making Crumb quilts to give at my family Christmas Gift Exchange.
Two Christmas' ago, DD *stole* this green crumb quilt I had made and given as a gift.
Why? who knows?
But now I dig it out sometime after Valentine's Day and use it to decorate the half wall leading down to the basement for St. Patrick's Day.
For more Crumb quilt inspirations, hop on over to Jo's Crumb Round Up.
