Design Wall Monday 7.31.2023 Late Edition...

...seems kinda weird to start the week off with a finish but why not? LOL

The last meeting of the month is when the Melon Patchers Quilt Guild collects their Comfort Quilts. So I had picked up this Teddy Bear panel on the free table at the end of June. I added the batting, quilting and binding. The backing...sorry, no picture...was also on the free table. It was a pretty quick finish and I turned it in last week.

pattern: it is a panel!

I also picked up another Ted E Bear and Hon E Bear border fabric.

I cut the background into 5 inch squares to go with a brown charm pack that was gifted to me at my night guild summer dinner party.

Finish or NOT Friday 7.28.2023

I completed the Bevels QOV tis week! I did add an extra round of *bevels* so that it measures closer to 60 x 80. I decided to bind it in the same stripe that I used in the bevels...and I still have more striped fabric left over.

Here is a picture of my inspiration piece found on Pinterest.

*no progress on the green crumbs* but I did buy a little bit of foam board to cut show and share shapes out of but no cutting yet.

WIP Wednesday 7.26.2023

I opted to add one more round of bevels to bring this quilt up to QOV size. I did have to spend a liitle time with the seam ripper as I had a few miscalculations!

Then it was time to add the outer border.

Design Wall Monday 7.24.2023

I'm working on my next project from fabric that was gifted to me during the AQS QuiltWeek Grand Rapids 2022. The panel is what I picked up and I am going to make the Bevels pattern from Mountain Creek Creations using fabric from the stash.

There is a little squirrel in the sewing room! I volunteered to share with my night guild my method for making crumb blocks. I decided that I am going to make a display board but first! I want to make a few crumb blocks and show my process along the way.

Finish or NOT Friday 7.21.2023

Another quick trip with the Serpentine wave quilting motif and USA Gnomes is complete. Well, I will need to have a label-poolooza day! I made this QOV as an effort to use two charm packs and the blue fabric that was gifted to me. I have a few light charms leftover and a about a yard of the blue.

WIP Wednesday 7.19.2023

The USA Gnomes have taken front and center in the sewing room. I started with this funky blue fabric and used a few white charms as the cornerstones. I had received this blue in a fabric bundle I won online and just couldn't find a place to use it!

I then started alternating the blue and red charms for the next border with white cornerstones. It was going pretty good until I realized that I was going to run out of blue and red charms after this border. Ooops. I should have sprinkled in a few more lights...

This is the size of the Hillside Charm pattern but...it needs to be just a little bigger for Quilts of Valor.

A red border to the rescue...

Design Wall Monday 7.17.2023

I received these two charm packs as a 'Thank You' for working the Quilt of Valor AQS Grand Rapids Quilt Week booth last year. I had also purchased the Hillside Charm pattern at the show.

Since the charm pack fabrics are pretty bright and cheery, I decided to use this Gnome panel that I found last year on the web. I also pulled a few more fabrics as 'go-with's.

I also had my current leader/ender project on the design wall to 'see' how it is going. So - so - so far...

SoScrappy Saturday 7.15.2023

Today is the third Saturday of July of the color red. One of my favorite colors!

Time for my North Winds blocks. I guess I should have straightened them on the design wall. LOL

Finish or NOT Friday 7.14.2023

A quick run on the long arm with my favorite Serpentine and the next panel QOV is done! Wednesday was open sew day at my day guild, so I spread out 'like a week's washing' and labeled 4 of my QOV's that are hanging around the sewing room. I have 2 more that need labeling before turning in but I need to make more labels.

I present to you: the 5 Star with Ribbons QOV.

WIP Wednesday 7.12.2023

I made a few stars then added borders to the star panel.  But...I didn't like it.

So, out came the seam ripper and off with the side panel borders.

Much better.

Next in the process are the ribbons. I made the ribbon rows to finish at 4 inches. There are 14 squares in the ribbon row and two rows per ribbon. 14 x 4 = 56, 56 is a good number for a QOV width, right? The ribbons look a little oversized to me but I was in too deep. There was NO turning back!

Now I am running out of the blue background. It was part of a kit I received and there is no buying more of that fabric. I went to the closet to 'see' what would work. I found a blue with white stars I liked but, you guessed right...not enough. I did find another blue with more white stars and I had enough to make the outer borders and binding. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

This is not a favorite of mine but I'm happy I made it. The ribbons stretched my creativity and that's a good thing.

Design Wall Monday 7.10.2023

I received this panel from Jennifer's Quilt Shop July 2022. I had stopped in before the Guild Girl's Night Out. Jennifer had stayed open late for us quilters passing by so I wanted to buy a little something to show my support. While chatting, I happen to mention that I do indeed support Quilts Of Valor by making quilts, she gifted me this panel. Now is the time to dig it out and make something. On Friday, I will be in her neighborhood again and will stop by for a visit.

I found this quilt on Pinterest and hope to make a similar version. I found it on 'Brent Dickie's' page. You can see that I have already started to scribble some notes on the picture.

This is the start of my fabric pull.

SoScrappy Saturday 7.8.2023

Today is the second Saturday of July of the color red! Time for my house and hut.

Look who is visiting my house this July! Santa! Oooops...looks like there is a stray thread on my house.

Finish or NOT Friday 7.7.2023

No big surprise here...Trailing Rail Fence is finished! It's also been to the cottage and back and washed! If it's sunny today...it will sit out for a sun bath. The smells from the cottage seem to linger and the summer UV rays are one way to obtain that fresh washed smell!

pattern: Not aware of a name but....
The gray/black rails are cut 2.5 inches x wof,
The teal is cut 1.5 inch x wof
I sewed the strata together and then cut into 9.5 inch blocks
Twist, turn and place in pleasing arrangement.
panto; horizontal serpentine

Here is Angie with Trailing Rail Fence. Her eyes were on a piece of bacon I was holding over my phone. LOL

Angie was a little skittish because of the fireworks. She first settled into the shower. Then she discovered she could squeeze under the master bed. <no picture>
