MidWeek Makers 1.31.2019

I'm still plugging away on the wheelchair quilts from guild. These quilts are maximum size of 40 x 40. So, they go together pretty quick.

I was binding, by machine!

Design Wall Monday 1.28.2019

Last month, I also took kits that contained wheelchair quilt parts from my guild. This week, I am working through these smaller quilts.

I have one that is pieced.

Whoop! Whoop! 1.25.2019

My first finishes of the new year are the plaid comfort quilts! I had taken a bag of plaid squares from the bin at guild and was able to make two manly quilts with the addition of background and the orange/reddish border from my stash.

WIP Wednesday 1.23.2019

I'm traveling back to the olden days!

If it's Wednesday then it's binding day! Today, I sew my bindings entirely on my domestic machine. I'm usually binding Comfort Quilts that will be forever homed with a child so~the bindings need to be sturdy!

Design Wall Monday 1.21.2019

After a few weeks off, I was able to get back into the sewing room. I had taken a bag of 8.5 inch plaids from the Oconomowoc Quilt Guild in December 2018 in hopes of piecing a manly quilt for the Comfort Quilting group.

I found this picture online and decided to try it on these plaids.

I did add the background from my stash. The darker border came from the donation bin and the orange was in my stash~I am happy that it has found a home. Imagine my surprise when after I had pieced about three quarters of the blocks made willy-nilly that I was making pinwheels...well, duh! There are so many easier was to make pinwheels and I would have been more careful with the fabric placement! But I do like the overall look. They DO look manly...lol!

A Little Progress 1.11.19

Very little progress has been made on 'Pete'. The two rear wheels have been sewn but I've stalled out on the rest. I did buy more blue background so when I'm motivated...I can sew, sew, sew!

WIP Wednesday 1.2.2019

Happy 28th Birthday to DS! Our first birthday (of his!) that we have spent apart!

I was working on a pixel quilt for him but somehow over the holidays~I just didn't progress very far on it. This is a new technique for me and 'things' just aren't lining up...

Here is my inspiration:

Here is my graph:

Here is where I'm currently at:

I need to adjust the slant of his windshield and see if I can get the hst's to line up a littler better...maybe in the morning I'll rip and re-sew.

Happy 2019!

2018 saw a mixed bag of happenings but hopefully 2019 will be more positive!

A few sewing goals for 2019:

*use more scraps (always on the list, friends!)
*sew from the guild kits for donation quilts
*try new techniques!
