H2H Link Up Day 5.31.2020

Today is the day to show the quilts for H2H Quilt Drive 2020. I sent four quilts to Emily for Quilty Hugs. For the life of me...I can't remember which quilts I sent to Em and which quilt I gave to my guild for Project Linus. ahhh, I'm having a senior moment!

The quilts I KNOW that went to Em's Quilty Hugs:

Quilt A

I blogged about Quilt A here.

Quilt B

I blogged about Quilt B here.
Quilt C

I blogged about Quilt C here

I also sent ONE of these two quilts. Maybe my 'Quilting Buddy' will help me remember?!

Quilt D

I blogged about Quilt D here.

Quilt E

I blogged about Quilt E here.

Whoop! Whoop! 5.29.2020

Just like that!

It's quilted with the large scribble panto and has arrived at it's destination. Our admin for the FB Quilt of Valor Stars group. This really was a fast one, even by my standards. I wasn't too excited when the panel arrived because of the colors. In the end, it turned out that I had the perfect colors in the stash for this quilt.

I even found some backing that worked...unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the back.  :(

There is a little bit of the backing in the binding on the lower left hand side of the quilt. Lately, I've been adding a little bit of a contrast in the binding strip.

Why? I don't know...my son refers to it as 'my statement piece' in the binding. I just kinda like the look of the little pop of difference...

WIP Wednesday 5.27.2020

I added a few more floating stars to the panel.

I also added a few more borders to bring him to size and

TA-DA!

a completed flimsy...

I am really fortunate. A friend was closing her shop here in Wisconsin and moving to Arizona a few years back. She didn't want to move a lot of her fabric so she came to guild and offered her fabric for $2.00/yard. I must have brought about 6 or 8 yards of this gold not knowing where I would use it. I also brought about 4 yards of all her other blender colors she offered. The dark brown is also from Kirby. The maroon inside the stars was suppose to go for another project I had in mind, it didn't work there but definitely works here. It came from a visit to Nancy's Notions booth at the Great Wisconsin Quilt Show. The inside navy border is JoAnn's. I tend to pull from stash whatever color suits, no matter it's origin. I am so fortunate that during this 'coronavirus pandemic' I have been able to go to my stash and continue to make quilts for others.

A few weeks ago, my QOV Working Stars FB group held a 'Sew Stars Saturday'.

I found the panel that I hadn't packed away and some matching fabric. I chose to make the Floating Star block.

Here are the parts.

One block done.
One block matched with the panel.

Side note:
cutting for my floating stars:

*background: 8 at 4.5 inches cut
*center: 1 at 4.5 inches cut
*star points: 8 at 4.0 inches cut

Whoop! Whoop! 5.22.2020

It's a Finish and winging it's way to Quilty Hugs in Utah!

This quilt is part of the H2H Quilt Drive hosted by Sarah every year!

pattern: Charm Tuesday

panto: large scribbles

I am trying to use my stash, so the back adds a bit of interest. :)

WIP Wednesday 5.20.2020

This is such an easy block!

I strip pieced it and boy, does it go together fast. The only down fall I can see, is that the way I pieced it, is that I need about 3 yards of background for a throw quilt...

I think if I make this again, I would keep a consistent color next to the 5 inch strip.

As the packing continued, I found another baggie full of fabric with some notes scribbled on a piece of paper. The note was a reminder that I needed 3 yards of background for this particular project.

Now, I normally don't have that quantity of the same background on hand but , luckily! this time I did! I did strip piece this quilt and if you check out the pattern, I did the top and bottom piece the light blue background...

Off to the races I go!

WIP Wednesday 5.13.2020

Look!

I finished all the 4 patches and completed it into a flimsy!

Although I had a slight mis-calculation on my inner border length but I was able to add more to finish it!

Yea! I love my stash! :)

A few of the blocks.

As I continue deeper into the stash closet, I found a bit of paisley yardage.

In my excitement, I cut it up into 4-Patch Stacked Posie blocks. On the left is the uncut paisley yardage and on the right are a few of the blocks!

Gosh! I love to make 4-patch blocks. This pattern allows the fabric to do 'all the work' for fun and interesting blocks.

WIP Wednesday 5.6.2020

I spent a little time thinking about my pile of fabric.

I decided to piece the greens into a background.

Sew a black inner/stop border and a scrappy ladybug outer border.

And, eh gads! Applique a few ladybugs across the quilt.

Time to check and make sure I'M NOT SICK! I almost NEVER voluntarily appliqué! In my defense, it's raggy edge...lol

While searching for some fabric in the closet, I ran across a bunch of ladybug prints leftover from this project. I also kept moving around a stack of greens that I just really didn't like anymore.

Does that happen to anyone else?! LOL

So I decided now is the time to join the two groups of fabric together!
