Design Wall Monday 8.31.2026

I've started my next project and it's a big one!

My son reminded me that I had agreed to make him a Milwaukee Brewers baseball quilt. I'm like, 'me?! I don't remember that!' His response was yup and I want it as big as you can as my bed is a king. I'm like, 'well, DD can only quilt up to 90 x 90' He's like, 'perfect'. I think I got 'played'. So the queen Brewers quilt has begun.

I brought (lots) of fabric and picked the pattern Button Box by Fabric Cafe.

I sewed alternate blocks on Saturday and Sunday. I still need to make two more rows but this is all that fits onto my design wall...that I can reach. :)

If you need me...I'll be thinking about sewing these rows together...

SoScrappy Saturday 8.29.2026

Today is the fifth Saturday of August of the color yellow. Yellow was not completely lost in my vacation as I sewed a few yellow/gray 4 patches. I did take the fabrics to guild one Wednesday and thanks to my table mates who pressed my 'parts' as I made them and even 'frogged' my sewing errors. :) The yellow/gray is a little difficult to 'see' against the design wall...

pattern: 4 patch: public domain
I cut my strips at 3.5 inches, sew the long edges together, subcut at
3.5 inches and sew into pairs. My result is 6.5 inch unfinished 4
                    patches.

Finish or NOT Friday 8.28.2026

I had a very productive week with the long arm!

First, I finished the Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt of Valor. This was the August challenge quilt for my FB QOV Working Stars group.

panto: serpentine

My next finish is a UFO. The main print is a Noah's Ark print that I paired with various animal prints. I really didn't follow a pattern but the animal prints are cut at 6.5 inches square and the brown/tan frames are cut at 1.5 inches.

pattern: see above
panto: serpentine

My last finish is a quick one. I purchased the panel for $1.00 donation at the AQS Grand Rapids Quilt Show Quilt of Valor booth Fabric Relocation Station. Whew! Try to say that three times fast...

pattern: none...it's a panel!

I'm making progress in the sewing room!

I added the binding onto the D9P.

I also quilted down the Noah's Ark UFO.

Design Wall Monday 8.24.2026

Hello again, blogging friends!

I took a little time away from sewing. My kids told me I was a 'teenager on summer vacation'! I stayed up late, slept in, watched my little screen for 10+ hours a day and drove my JeepJeep whenever I wanted to go somewhere local.

But... summer vacation ends and school starts...

So...I had put the border on the D9P from July.

I also made the back and loaded it and...quilted it down.

While searching in my boxes, I found this Noah's Ark quilt. I think it is about 10 years old. It will be next up on the long arm.

pattern: I do believe I just made this up on the fly. I do think the novelties
are cut at 6.5 inches and the frames are 1.5 inches cut. But then again,
                I didn't measure anything.

Thanks to my Quilting Buddy who reached out to me for a wellness check! Believe it or not...I didn't take any pictures at the AQS Grand Rapids show. :(

SoScrappy Saturday 8.1.2026

Today is the first Saturday of August of the color yellow...and I have a confession...

While RSC 2026 hasn't focus on yellow or purple, I hedged my bet when I made my humming bird Meals-on-Wheels place mats. Yup...I made a set in yellow and purple. Just a little on the sneaky side. :)

Here are the yellow humming bird placemats. I made two with facing then decided that traditional binding would be easier, quicker and use less fabric. :)

pattern: whole cloth humming bird fabric
panto: large scribbles
