Design Wall Monday 8.26.2019

I made flag string blocks for my FB QOV Stars online group over the past week or so...

Now to decide on a layout. I was originally going to pair them with the other block drive block-the split star- but I didn't like my fabric choices together.

Design Wall Monday 8.19.2019

Design design time...

I have quite a pile of 16 patch blocks that I have been sewing as leaders/enders on guild days. Awhile back, I brought a bit of yardage of patriotic dogs thinking I would make a kid's quilt.

Here is my original plan.

It's ok but...

I swapped out the blue and red 16 patches.

I know which one I prefer, but which one do you like better?

During my De-Clutter, I found this wonderful light blue that I had set aside for another project. I thought it would be a great compliment to the red and yellow braids I had just made! I tried a new to me technique for finishing the rows. I kept telling myself, 'Careful. Don't cut it wrong!' Guess what?! I cut the last red braid wrong...ugh. But I decided to leave as is.

Whoop! Whoop! 8.9.2019

A small finish this week, still counts, right?

The County Fair panel. It finishes at about 46 inches square. I'm thinking it will be a good lap quilt for someone in a nursing home.

WIP Wednesday 8.7.2019

More braids on the design wall! and there are still more half hexies in the baggie. Think I will turn those back in so they can be made into another kit.

Yay!

I did a little bit of sewing this past week!

I found another baggie from the Oconomowoc Quilt Guild Comfort Quilts bin. This one had a whole bunch of half hexies in it for making braids, red and yellow. ummmm....

I remembered that I had brought an old fashion type panel from the thrift store not knowing exactly what I would make. I pulled out that panel, used four of the six prints and surrounded it with braids.

This will be great for the nursing home, the residents are in all stages of decline. The little lap quilts tend to get used and abused. The quilt-lets get washed A LOT and always need replacing.

Here she is!

Whoop! Whoop! 8.2.2019

Between settling DD into her first apartment at college and the Great De-Clutter, there hasn't been a lot of sewing happening at Bell Creek Quilts. :(  That will change soon enough if I just keep focused on the Great De-Clutter!

I did manage to quilt down my flimsy from last week. Another quilt kit baggie completed for the Oconomowoc Quilt Guild. Yay! My quilting is a little wonky as it's a whole bunch of bias blocks. After a few washes and some loving...those bumps will be barely noticeable. Well, that's what I tell myself, anyway! lol
