WIP Wednesday 9.23.2015

I quilted down the last of the black and white with a little red quilts today. I thought while I had the Mozart panto out on the table…I might as well finish it up! :)

The quilting went really quick even if my bottom border was a wavy one…think I will need to *brush up* on my border sewing technique….

pattern info: blocks made using the strip tube method, my source here.

quilting info: Mozart by Jodi Beamish, one source here.

What I'm Working On...

I pressed the leftover from this quilt

…to make this quilt.  :)

I added a couple of borders to bring the size to approximately 45 x 62.

A nice little quilt for a little one!

Road Trip Friday

The Quilt Expo 2015 with Nancy Zieman was this weekend!

I decided to make the one hour drive to Madison and check it out. I attended one lecture about *Garbage Can Quilts*.  I was hoping to get more ideas to use up scraps but the lecturer follows Bonnie Hunter's Scrap System and showed a few of her Bonnie quilts.

I'm afraid I didn't support the vendors very well with this trip. I only came away with a bottle of oil for the long arm, some clover wonder clips and the Quilt Expo 2015 t*shirt. I was looking for the Walk-About pattern but I guess, I will need to order it online.

The quilts in the show were beautiful, as always. They are way above my skill level but I do admire the beauty with every stitch.

Whoop! Whoop! 9.11.2015

A small Whoop! Whoop! today…

…a friend is organizing the table decorations for the church's bi-weekly Mom's meetings and asked if I would help. She is going with a lake/beachy/water theme this year.

…much to her credit: she found the clear bowls, rocks, nameplates, a bolt of burlap, some discarded drapery/silky material and battery tea lites. She brought the plate chargers at the dollar store. She wanted the burlap under the bowls of rocks and table runners out of the silky material. I suggested she go with a square and sort of *puddle* it around the centerpiece. That way each one could be individual yet all alike. The ladies eat first at the meetings so I thought if the *puddle* was too big…then it could just be *pushed* more towards the center piece and out of the way.

…here is what I have…I staged it on my brown kitchen table but the tables at church are white!

I think we did ok.

Ten table settings for $10.00!

Decorating on a Dime! (who remembers that HGTV show?!)

A few particulars:

the chargers are 13  inch round
the burlap was cut 16 inches square -- sorta
the *puddles* were cut 42 inches squares and hemmed on all four sides - final 40 inches square (approx.)

WIP Wednesday 9.9.2015

I quilted down my Strip Tube ruler quilt.

I blogged about it here and here.

Pattern info: I used the Strip Tube ruler instructions included in the packaging.

Quilting info: Mozart by Jodi Beamish, one source here.

I also sewed down the binding in preparation for the hand sewing.

I know I've seen this trick/tip before, but I saw it again on one of the Facebook feeds I follow. I simply coiled the binding then propped up my horizontal spindle a little bit

and

wa-la: this was the nicest and even-est feed of my binding ever!!!

ALYoF: September 2015 Goal

My goal this month is a KISS -- Keep It Simple Stupid!

I recently started a part time job. I will be working anywhere from three to five days a week so I am not sure how many hours I will be able to log in the sewing room. :)

Also while my husband was window cleaning, he unearthed this trio of wall hangings/ table runner. All they need is their binding complete! I first blogged about the trio here.

Amazing how things can get buried amongst my things!

My September 2015 ALYoF's is to complete the binding on this trio. I actually *think* of the trio as one unit. :)

Whoop! Whoop! 9.4.2015

My first Whoop! Whoop!:

My laptop is back! It was at the Doctor's getting a clean up and de-looped! I am very happy to have my trusty companion back.  :)

But while she was away…I read Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. DS recommended that I read it although not my usual read -- it was interesting.

My second Whoop! Whoop!:

I finished a baby quilt! yay! I'm only 2 weeks and 2 days late…the little one arrived 2 weeks early.

It is the Diagonal Beginner quilt, found here.

Not real sure that I would make this pattern again. It is very similar to the Mock Trip Around the World pattern (found here) that I really sewing.

I quilted it with the Mozart pantograph, found here.
