Whoop! Whoop! 6.21.2013
I put the finishes touches on this QOV while DD was at her last day of Crazy8's camp this morning.
pattern source: Framed (you will need to scroll to the end of the page for this pattern.)
panto source: Stars and crescents found here.
The *faux flange* tutorial found here. I changed it up a bit and sewed on the main color and not the accent.
While I was *in process* with the *faux flange* I didn't think I would like it but I DO!

WIP Wednesday
This week DD has four different hockey camps! One is every day this week from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon! Another is Monday night from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm and another is Tuesday night from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm and the last one is Thursday nights from 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm. PHEW! but let's not forget the Church Youth program...Matchbox Summer Nights...meets Wednesday nights from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. :)
Needless to say that I am spending lots of time travelling to and from the rinks.
I also am spending time watching DD. :)
(DD is in the blue jersey closest to the player in the white jersey!)
There has been little time to quilt but I did manage to quilt this QOV down while she was at morning camp today.
pattern source: Framed with extra borders, found here. You need to scroll to the bottom of the page.
panto: Stars and Crescents found here.
While DD took a nap this afternoon, I did get in a little sewing of the 9 patches and cut the side/corner triangles for my next Framed quilt. This one uses 9 inch finished squares.

What I'm Working On...
...this is what I decided to do with this quilt to bring it up closer to QOV size.
I added a checkered border of the two border fabrics to help with the transition. For the *pop* of red I was thinking about making the faux flange as described here. One fly in the ointment ~ I'm out of the darker blue! rats...maybe I'll head back to the store and *see* if I can find some! :)

Occasionally, I quilt charity quilts for the Oconomowoc Quilt Guild. The charity arm of the guild recently decided to pull fabric for kits for the members to piece. The next step is for the quilts to be quilted (I'm one of the quilting volunteers!). The next hand off is for binding. The Charity organizers thought this system will help to alleviate the stress associated with donating a completed quilt. *Many hands make light work* type of thing happening.
So I present the most recent quiltings for the Oconomowoc Quilt Guild:

panto source: Happy Times

AZ Blankets 4 Kids has many patterns on it's home page, found here. Simply add more blocks or borders to bring the quilt up to the size you desire. :)
These quilts were cut and kitted up by members of the Charity Group of the Ocomonowoc Quilters Guild. The quilts were then pieced by various members of my guild. I then quilted the quilts. On Thursday, I will turn the quilts back into the coordinator. Next ~ another member will check out the kit to bind it!

This was one quilt that I decided to chop in half and add a few simple borders. The results are two quilts that I will be mailing to Quilts Beyond Borders. The *twins* are quilted and awaiting trimming/ binding.

What I'm Working On...
...I wanted to test out this pattern but it didn't tell what size the squares were suppose to be cut. (You will need to scroll all the way down to the end as this pattern is called 'Framed'). So I cut at 6.5 inches. The quilt turned out a tad too small for a QOV so I was auditioning possibilities to both widen and lengthen the quilt. To get the quilt the size in the pattern~I believe one would need 9.5 inch cut squares for the inside and the 9 patches need to be 9.5 inches unfinished also.
The plain red seems just too red to me. I'm thinking maybe a row of 4 patches using the stars/ dark blue as I am going to frame the whole quilt in the dark blue...
...might work! ...maybe? I'll let it marinate for a little while longer...

WIP Wednesday~Late Edition
'I *mustache* you a question!'
'But I will *shave* it for later!'
DD's favorite joke of late. :)
I was quilting on her new bed quilt. It's all trimmed and the binding has been made. The next step is to sew on the binding and finish it up. :)
