I quilted down the brown/cream strip tube ruler quilt.

I started another strip tube ruler quilt. This one with 3 : 2.5 strips sewn together and a 6.5 inch strip of light blue as the back side of the tube.

Yay!

This one will wait for awhile before quilting as I have a few other sewing priorities right now.

Design Wall Monday 7.17.2017

Next month my Helping Hands Bee is demonstrating the Strip Tube ruler.

My goal is to refresh my memory on how to use this ruler, so I found a pattern, Simplicity, I had on inventory and am working on making it.

Here are the blocks sewn together. I have about 2/3 of the inside panel sewn together but, alas, it was dinnertime so it will wait.

I finished up Graduation Quilt F.

I also sashed and bordered Bento Box 2.

WIP Wednesday 7.12.2017

Progress has been made on the Bento Box 2.

I sliced the original blocks and have shuffled and re-sewn.

I'm still not grooving to it...

I'm gong to add sashings and a border.



Hopefully, I like it better.

On My Design Wall 7.10.2017

A Bento Box pattern using charm squares and 2.5 inch strips.

There are many tutorials out in Google land.

Unfortunately, I just launched into the pattern and didn't watch/read any of the tutorials.

I simply cut red/blue squares at 5 inches, cream/tan strips at 2.5 inches and blue/red stripes at 2.5 inches and started sewing. hmmmmm....

My July 4, 2017

I had a simple goal for the holiday ---- piece two quilts.

The first quilt.

I used the leftovers from the Bento Box to start this coin quilt. I added about 5 x WOF of blues and greens to get the coins to length. I also used 2 yards of the dark gray as sashing and outer border. I probably should have bought another 1/2 yard to use as binding. That would make a cohesive look but will most likely use the cut-offs from the backing fabric. Time will tell what I'm feeling.  LOL

I volunteered to help my friend to cover the children in the Jefferson County (Wisconsin) Foster Care System. My friend and I as well as the Oconomowoc Quilters Guild will be making about 85 quilts for the kids. I'm planning on donating these two quilts.

Design Wall 7.3.2017

Whew! What a week that was!

DD and I went to student/parent orientation at Northern Michigan University Sunday through Wednesday. I think I must have walked about 15 miles over the course of the orientation! It was rainy when we arrived on campus and the rain held off until we were leaving campus!

I then worked Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Let me tell you that our Costco has been crazy busy---couldn't hardly keep the samples flowing!



Yesterday  --before and after work-- I managed to spend some time sewing. yeah!

Here is my flimsy. I used the leftovers from this quilt (quilt E) and added about 5 long strips. Each time I make one, I seem to need to add a different number of strips.





But hey, much better as a flimsy -- soon to be quilt-- than sitting in a pile in the sewing room, right?!

Thursday's Tellings...6.22.2017

This week has flown by in a blur! Can hardly believe it is THURSDAY already - how did that happen?!

On Monday, I quilted down this green tumbler. This was pieced by another member of the Oconomowoc Quilt Guild. I provided the backing, binding and batting for this one as it didn't have anything with it when I picked it up.




The size is approximately 53 x 77. A good size lap quilt.

I quilted it with the Bubbles panto (one source here) as I used fish as the backing. My guild is in need of boyish/manish quilts. My hope is with the fish and bubbles...it would appeal to a male.

On Tuesday, I started another Graduation Quilt. The party is July 1st so I have a few days to complete. DD's choice of colors were blue and purple.

Wednesday I meet up with our Oconomowoc Quilters Guild Charity Quilt leader. We went through our stash of donated quilts and chose about 12 to donate to the Jefferson County Foster Care System. While we were in Jefferson, we stopped for lunch at the local bakery and of course, the quilt shop - Tea and Textiles. Sorry - no pictures and no website!

Which brings us to today!  (grin) Laundry, sewing on the Grad quilt, ice dyeing a back and thinking about loading another donation quilt....
