DD wanted a swirl. Here is hers right after she applied the dye. She then decided to twist it again.
Here it is after rinsing but still wet. Where did her swirl go?!
I wanted scrunchies on the top and stripes on the bottom. I realized too late that I should have reversed the colors! LOL Blue on the top, red on the stripes. Oh well, I think we need more practice. This is still wet.
Next I wanted to try a quilt back, still wet.I wanted to use this with another Mermaid quilt but it might be too dark.
Maybe after I wash and dry it~it will lighten up?!

Are they procion dyes? Seems like the top shirt lost a lot of color after rinsing. Synthrapol will help you get rid of any excess dye, if you can get hold of some. Don't know if I'd wash those with anything else! Looks like you had fun though!
Wow that looks like fun. I did reverse dying. I took some solid colored shirts that had a few spots on them and tied them up with rubber bands. Then I soaked them in some beach water for a few hours and then washed them. It turned out awesome. No more stains. I got a few more years out of them.
I bet you will lose some of the loose dyes on that back--of course by now you have tried that.
Looks like a lot of fun to me! Something you two girls can try together too and pass a summer day.
What fun!!! I haven't tye dyed for years....I thought you had to finish one color of dyeing before trying the next color. I don't really know. lol
I haven't tie-dyed in years, but always loved it! I still wear a couple of old tee shirts that have faded past the swirl stage--and I think we did those at DD's 10th birthday party--over 20 years ago!
Hmmm, I might just have to ask for one for my birthday or something!
This is awesome! Can't you just do the same thing with Rit dye? or do you need special dye?
