WIP Wednesday 4.1.2015

Well, I seem to be on the mend and have spent some time in the sewing room!

First: I finished DS' Red Wing hockey quilt to a flimsy. His request was for a quilt as big as I could make it. Right now the flimsy is at about 91 x 91. I need about 8 yards for the backing but that will be something I need to buy.  DS is my orderly child who likes his backings to be all one fabric! The blocks are 6.5 inch cut squares that are framed with 2.5 inch cut strips. It's pretty basic but I didn't want to cut up the hockey fabric any smaller that that!

Second: I've been sewing on the Little Dresses for Africa.

I've been having fun shopping for pillowcases to turn into the Little Dresses. So far, I've made 12!

FUN! FUN! FUN!

Third: I've started a quilt for the Hands2Help quilt drive

I dug into my 6.5 inch novelty squares bin. I saw somewhere at some time on the web, the novelty squares in a  heart arrangement. (If this is your pattern---please let me know and I will link back to you!) I need to fill in with the background fabric so I can start sewing the top into a flimsy.

EDIT: Marie of Quilt Bee made a quilt similar to this called Strawberries and Cream.

Thank You Marie for letting me know!

Glad that you are feeling better.

Love all the little dresses - they are cute. Wouldn't it be fun to see the smiles of the little ones when they first see them.

I'm loving the little dresses too - what a great idea. And your heart is fun too. I made one this winter as a baby quilt with 3" squares and lots of scrappy pinks and creams (http://rie-quiltbee.blogspot.ca/2015/02/strawberries-cream.html) and called it Strawberries & Cream. Very pretty.
