So here we are...at the end of April and still 'safer at home'.
How many are really digging into the stash? Raising my hand here...
I discovered this outer border fabric recently and though it would look ok with the inner portion of the Simply Strippy. It has triangle of navy, white and orange in it. Of course, I found a little orange as the inner border to bring it all together. Although, the orange does look red in the picture...

See?!
Done to a flimsy in a jiffy! I'm using leftover 3.5 inch strips along with a few 3.5 inch WOF strips.
I simply sew the short end to short end then cut to desired length to get the inside of the quilt top. This time I think I cut to 50 inches, which is a tad too long. Next time, I'll cut my long strip into shorter intervals.

What does one do when you have leftover strips?
Stash them in the crumb box?! or...
Make another (and very easy!) quilt!
This is Bonnie Hunter's Simply Strippy quilt pattern. I'm using the leftovers from my Bento Box and added a few WOF strips to the mix. I'll have another quilt top in a jiffy. :)

I made the management decision to move away from RWB combinations to the next overflowing area of the stash color closet. Blue is still a major player but now I'm partnering it with GREEN!
One of my 'GO TO' patterns is my take on Bento Boxes. I find that the blocks sew up really fast and with leftovers...you can create another quilt. Kinda like a BOGO (buy one get one)...sorta.
Here are my scribbled notes from a previous quilt I pieced.
I lay my contrasting 3.5 inch strips right sides together, iron then cut. I actually lay the two coordinating blocks out by my machine and sew them at the same time.
pattern inspiration: Bento Box
There is lots of information on 'Bento Box' quilt pattern if you Google Search or even Pinterest, if you dare...
Here are my cut fabrics.
Here are a few blocks.

Whoop! Whoop! 4.17.2020
and she's DONE!
She ended up a little on the short side - 68 inches long once quilted but it will be okay. This really was fast since all the 16 patches were completed as leaders/enders. I suppose that is why she is a little short...I didn't want to make more, lol
I went with the scrappy red binding, of course.

For my next 'safe at home' project, I decided to pull out the leaders/enders 16 patches I had been sewing using 2.5 inch squares. I actually kept moving the bag around the sewing storage room so I decided to sew 'em up and STOP moving them!
Since the squares are blue and white, I decided to border in red. Normally, I would have used every red in the cabinet but my bright reds are running low so I added a bit darker to the mix. I also decided to create half blocks on either end to off set the pattern and give visual interest, I hope!

of course! lol

I also made a mask.
I followed the Jenny Doan tutorial but...
I just wasn't grooving' to it....
I've been looking at sooo many mask tutorials, trying to figure out one that looked like it would work better for me. I finally saw one on Facebook. It has a filter pocket and showed how to make four at once. I wished I had bookmarked the video, but of course, I didn't. :( If by chance this video belonged to you, let me know! I want to give credit where credit is due...
It started with an 8 inch x WOF of the front and 8 inch x WOF backing fabric. I then adjusted the cut of the pocket to 6.5 inch x WOF for the filter. Maybe I'll write up/photograph the steps and post here on the blog...
My model is DD! You're rocking the healthy breathing as she went to pick up the pizza. Yesterday was her day to cook!

I started my next kit.
It's the second flag panel with blue/gold this time. Hmmm...I forgot to snap a 'before' picture so I'll get a few during the process.
Here is one with the block units sewn/ cut and ready to be laid out.
