Today is the fifth Saturday of May of the color green. The prompt for Table Scraps May 2025 is fresh cut grass. How perfect is this combination!
Green and fresh cut grass reminds me of my husband and his old John Deere mower (it was actually a Sabre but still John Deere green). I actually took this picture when he was working on leaves.
He has since upgraded to a Toro Zero Turn mower that is red.
I had used all my John Deere fabric so I did go to the store and buy a yard. I made myself a little table mat for the hearth room side table.
Pattern: 3.5 inch cut center with 2.5 inch cut frames sewn as quilt as you go.
Since I had more John Deere fabric, I made four place mats for the local Meals on Wheels. I changed around the fabric placement and I ended up liking the dark corners best!
pattern: 6.5 inch cut center set on point with 2.5 strips sewn as quilt as you go
rounds. I then trimmed to size and bound.

What a cute little table mat. Perfect for Joy's challenge. So kind of you to make placemats for Meals on Wheels. I'm sure they will be appreciated. They are so cute. I like how you played with the placement of the fabric. Enjoy! ;^)
We've had a similar evolution of lawn mowers over the years. Those pictures could have been taken here. LOL Love those placemats. They reminded me that I had some big squares of a bear print that I had set aside for placemats. Hmmm - where did I put those squares?
So great to use up your purchased John Deere on a donation.
What fun to make a little mat for yourself and then some placemats for Meals on Wheels, too! The John Deere fabric is perfect for this month's Table Scraps theme. Have a fun sewing week, Pat!
What a hoot that John Deere fabric is. I feel like I am back living in Wisconsin. Loved biking through farm country. Those Meals on Wheels placemats are bound to be a hit.
Nothing runs like a Deere! lol Love the placemats!
What a delightful table mat (and set of placements) for the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge! Thanks for joining in, Pat. Your placemats are sure to be will received when donated.
Perfect tablemat to represent fresh-cut grass. Love the pictures of your husband doing yardwork. Looks like he enjoys it? My husband does not. Tha Quilt-as-You-Sew placemats were perfect too. Happy Summer!
