I was hoping for a quick and easy finish for my potholders but...
just straight stitching and a straight cut seemed kinda boring.
Next, I did a straight stitch and pinked the extra. Again, kind boring.
Then I thought, zig-zag like a postcard edge. Oh...no...definatley not this!
The old stand by...I bound the edge in this fun polka dot. Seems just right to me. :)
If you are looking for me...I'll be in the sewing room working on bindings for my Christmas gifties.

Can you sew right sides together and then turn them? You can still stitch 1/4 from the edge and it will look like binding....
Binding seems a bit excessive for pot holders...
Binding might be a little extra work but it sure makes a nice finished edge. Plus looking at commercially made ones isn't that how you get a loop to hang them??
I am still putzing around with those darned appliance covers but to the binding part like you. One down and 2 to go plus the hand work. I should be doing that instead of goofing around online, LOL.
Have fun in the sewing room!
Binding is definately the way to go, nice gifts.
Count me in on the binding agreement! It's a much more finished look. And the polka dots are perfect.
cute!
LJ, Cher and I all have a 'history' with that gold viney fabric....surprised LJ did not notice it!
