SoScrappy Saturday 1.11.2025

Today is the second Saturday of the color pink, but first...

I finished my 2024 Stash Buster Challenge quilt earlier in the week. I like how it turned out but I have enough main checkerboard blocks for another quilt. I really need to learn, 'less blocks are okay' when making the RSC blocks! :)

pattern: 2024 Stash Buster Challenge
panto: serpentine

I haven't decided on my other blocks but MarilynE, our program director at The MelonHeads, wanted to 'see' the 2025 Stash Buster Challenge block. So I made one up in pinks. This is the BIG block and will finish at 16 inches.

Quilting Gail will be starting the 2025 Stay-at-Home-Round-Robin soon, so I made one up in RWB. This one was a little quicker make as I had most of the parts either already sewn together or cut.  (4 patches were leader enders, 2.5 x 4.5 white are from the potato chip block bin and I always seem to have a supply of 2.5 inch squares) I only had to cut the dark blue and light blue centers. It will be my center block.

The Irish chain quilt is beautiful! I really like the 2025 Stash Busters quilt block, you're going to have another beautiful quilt by the end of 2025, happy stitching!

I have been doing the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for a long time and I never seem to learn that it is OK to make fewer blocks. I always have so many scraps! Doing a bit of math before the year starts has helped me to have more of a plan so that I don't just make blocks until all of the scraps are gone.

The new block looks great in both colorways. I hadn't thought of using a large block for the start of the SAHRR. Hmmm - now I'm rethinking the possibilities.

I always love me an Irish Chain & yours is lovely! That Stash Buster block is great & the RWB will be a great beginning for Round. I'm thinking of doing the SAHRR this year, as well, as I have a large barn orphan block that's been around for years & it feels like a good way to use it.
