Today is the fourth Saturday of January of the color blue. For this week's project, I decided to make rail fence blocks. I chose the same blue for the outer rail and a light gray for the middle. Hummmm...not exactly the look I was hoping for...
I cut strips at 2.5 inches, sewed along long edge then subcut at 6.5
inches (unfinished).
I'm going to pair the rail fence blocks with my novelties for a child's charity quilt, something along this idea. I have 'other' projects to complete, so this will wait. I should probably set aside the blue for binding...if I was smart, eh?
pattern: 6.5 inch (unfinished) novelty fabrics with 6.5 inch (unfinished) rail fence
blocks

YES! That was a great idea to combine the rail fence blocks with the novelty fabrics. That will be a great donation quilt.
You nailed it, much more interesting with the squares!!
I love the second layout with all the fun novelty prints! That was a great idea, Pat!
Love the rail fence blocks with the novelty! Brilliant!!
Great idea! I have some leftover rails left and this would be a wonderful way to use them!!! You matched them up beautifully!
The novelties + rail fence will work into a lively quilt to delight someone special!
They look great paired with the novelty fabrics! Well done! xx
