WIP Wednesday 12.7.2022

I took Judy and Nann's suggestions and swapped out the gray for black. I also reviewed this blogpost and cut the fabric accordingly. Here is the resulting flimsy.

This flimsy definitely 'looks better' than the gray one. Here they are side by side.

Design Wall Monday 12.5.2022

I thought I would sew together a few small quilts to illustrate another setting for crumb blocks. I had found a staggered set somewhere in blog land and decided to dive right in. Here are my fabric pulls.

Well, I cut and sewed and cut and sewed and here is my first one. Uhhhh...Houston, we have a problem!

While this looks fine as is...it's not WHAT I wanted. Back to the drawing board or rather, search my blog aa I remembered I had made a staggered set using my novelties a long time ago. 2014, to be exact. Thank goodness, I was blogging pretty consistently back then and was able to find my 'note to self' on a easier construction process! Find the blog post here about an offset setting.

I'm off on a few holiday errands but hope to get to the second quilt in the coming days.

Sunday Shenanigans 12.4.2022

Just for fun, I thought I would turn the next quilt on the long arm 180 degrees. This quilt is approximately 60x 80 so I pinned the 80 inch side to the leaders on the frame. This results in the serpentine wave running vertical instead of horizontal. This is actually QOV #40 for the Casual Quilters in 2022 that I have quilted down. It took just a little more thread but finished quicker.

I really like the look of the vertical wave. I'll have to remember to 'go vertical' when I have enough backing fabric to complete quilts this way. <grin>

Finish or NOT Friday 12.2.2022

Yay!

I'll take that 'Finish' today! I was able to quilt and bind my RWB Crumb BQ1 quilt! The only sad thing is that I used all my red Permacore thread and that particular red isn't available any more! so sad...but I did buy a back up spool of Guterman at JoAnn's to use with my red bindings. Like DD's BF told me, 'You can't leave money on the table' and I needed to use my $10 coupon before it expired. I treated myself to a new seam ripper, too. 😍

WIP Wednesday 11.30.2022

I've made more progress on my current RWB project.

The blocks are made and in a little bit different setting. Since I have directional fabric in my crumbs,  I needed to pay attention to block orientation!

I cut my remaining RWB fabric from the bolts into 2 yard segments and washed it yesterday...2 loads worth. I have more QOV signature quilts to make and want the fabric 'at the ready' for when the spirit moves me to work on them. LOL After washing, I was able to add borders to bring it to about 62 x 82 before quilting.

I pulled out my RWB crumb blocks and was going to give the BQ1 from Maple Island Quilt a whirl. Hope it looks okay...crumbs can be a bit finicky at times. LOL

SoScrappy Saturday 11.26.2022

Today is the fourth Saturday of November of the month of assembly.

Time for my 'Missing U' blocks. I really had fun making these blocks through the year but I decided that I like the smaller sections of 'spare parts' rather then the longer lengths that this block used. There is nothing wrong with this block and I love the quilt, I just prefer shorter strips of fabrics in a block.

Finish or NOT Friday 11.25.2022

Hello again Blogger Friends!

This week has been filled with 'preparations and other non-sewing things' to get ready for Thanksgiving at our home. I hope everyone (that celebrates the US Thanksgiving!) had a wonderful day of food, family and fellowship!

I did indeed have a finish earlier in the week. My crumby hearts Meals on Wheels placemats. It does seem a little early to be sewing Valentine's Day but they need to be sent in right after the New Year. One check off my 'to do' list! LOL

SoScrappy Saturday 11.19.2022

Today is the third Saturday of the month of November of 'assembly'.

Time to share my 'crumble jumble' blocks. It's a pattern from Bonnie Hunter's String Frenzy book. Here are a few blocks set like Bonnie's.

But I made a whole bunch all through out the year. So I have enough to make another quilt in a straight set!
