Update on Pastries, Puddles and Putzy

Here's the 411 on what's been happening:

Pastries:

51 out of 52 boxes of Girl Scout cookies deliverd and $$$ collected. Pretty good if you ask me!

Puddles:

The mystery puddle has dried up and has not returned! Knock on wood...that it stays away. :)

Putzy:

I finished putting the final border on today. For some reason, I always seem to stall when it comes to adding borders. Sorry for the 'wonky' picture but Putzy is bigger than my design wall :)

and finally, Pam at My Creative Mind asked, "What's On Your Design Wall?"

ummm...mine is pretty boring. When I started Putzy I thought a pieced back would be cool (and a way to use the stash) soooo...I'm starting to arrange super size squares for Putzy's back.

Blog Hopping

As I was blog hopping today, I ran across this really cool give-away. Tracey at Oz Country Quilting Mum has taken pictures around her farm and had them made into cards and even a calender! I just love her pictures of cows and sheep model-ing her quilts! I'm having an urge to make a christmas-y quilt, find a cow, take a picture and make it into my Christmas card :)

ps. The frog fabric has nothing to do with anything except that frogs 'hop' and I was 'blog hopping' today so...frog fabric for eye candy.

Stash Busting Report Week #9

I had a week where I was pushing buttons and the fabric arrived at my door...so I fell off the bandwagon...so to speak.

Here is my report for week #9:
  • fabric received in: 8 yards (ouch!)
  • fabric used: 4 yards

net total year to date: -7.5 yards (used)

What I accomplished this week:

  • pieced backing for 'Florida' quilt
  • made an appointment for LA-ing 'Florida' and 'Leaves'...drop off on Monday
  • continue to piece black and gold grad quilt (now named 'PUTZY')

Goals for this week:

  • finish PUTZY to a flimsy
  • piece backing for PUTZY
  • drop PUTZY off for LA-ing

ummmm...my quilting world seems to revolve around PUTZY...is that good or bad?

DS is worried cuz he caught me carrying on a conversation with Putzy....Putzy is a very good listener :)

Quilt-a-thon #1: Day 2 Afternoon Check-In

As The Colonel from the A-Team would say, "I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!" and I didn't even know I had a plan! DS went on some errands, DH took DD to his work this afternoon and I was able to sew! I just completed sewing together the last 12 blocks of the black and gold graduation quilt. It has been named 'PUTZY' as I feel I have been putz-ing along on this top. Now to join all the blocks for the inside then add the borders! WOW! I didn't think I would be able to get this much done....

On the cookie front, DD and I were able to deliver all but one of our neighbor orders. I think that is pretty good for the first time out. She sold quite a few at school so tomorrow afternoon, I will go to the school and help deliver to the teachers and friends there.

Quilt-a-thon #1: Day 2 am

Shhhhh...I woke up a little early for the weekend (6:30 am), showered, brewed some coffee, cruised the Quilt-a-thon ring and some blogs then snuck down into the sewing room. After a little more than an hour, I have 16 out of 28 blocks sewed together. Now to square up whats on the wall and sew together, then I can place the remaining subunits up and repeat until the inner piece is ready for borders! you know, this is fun :)

Quilt-a-thon: Night-time Check-In

Uh-oh...lookie what arrived at my house this afternoon! so ends my participation in the Quilt-a-thon. Looks like DD and I will be organizing our scout cookies to try and deliver tomorrow.

Have Fun all you that are still stitching, sewing and quilting! :)

Thanks JudyL for organizing Quilt-a-thon #1!

Quilt-a-thon: Late Afternoon Check-In

I didn't think I'd have the chance to join in Quilt-a-thon but DH and DS have gone on a few errands and DD was watching a movie on the Disney Channnel. I scurried down to the sewing room to slice and sew my remaining sub units in the black & gold grad quilt. See, I had four stacks to go...

...and I finished piecing all four sub unit stacks...

...and I even sewed one 'wonky' block together!

'Top of the Mornin' to You'

'Top of the Mornin' to You'!

When I moved to Texas in 2003, I decided to make a series of quilts to decorate the wall in the eating area of the kitchen. You know, something to brighten the place and keep it fresh. This is the wallhanging that I made for March and St. Patrick's Day. I believe the pattern is from a long ago issue of Quiltmaker or Quick Quilts as I was getting both publications in the mail at the time. DH put up my holders last December and I've started to enjoy these wallhangings here in Wisconsin but as you can see, my spacing information I gave DH just barely fits this quilt!

....and the label is from the PrintShop Deluxe Workshop software.

For all of you participating in JudyL's Quiltathon...have a very fun day of stitching, sewing and quilting :)

February Tally

Let's see...February seemed to be a month of beginnings for me:
  • I did finish the four Neonatal Intensive Care Unit quilts and donated them
  • I cut and pieced 'Florida' strippy quilt (I need to prep it for Juli (my LA) for a Monday drop-off appointment)
  • I made a house block and a few crumb blocks for Bonnie
  • I cut and pieced my log cabin blocks...I'm waiting on an inner border fabric to arrive then I can figure out when I can assemble the quilt top
  • I cut and am now piecing the black & gold graduation quilt top
  • I also started cutting strips for 4 more quilt tops

Not quite as productive as some others but I'm 'keeping at it' :)

Thank You JudyL!

Thank You JudyL for being my motivator this week!

After starting the dinner, making my call...

I headed out on my errands and here is my haul. Wal*Mart had the Wisconsin Badger fabrics that I'm going to include with Mamaspark's package of green squares. I got my meds and a quick trip to the grocery store to 'shore up' for the weekend. Think I'm good until next week. Unfortunately the LQS didn't have the Mary Ellen's Spray Press I like to use so it will mean a return trip when it comes in from order...maybe that's a good thing! I did resist the temptation to buy fabric cuz it's pretty...maybe next time I'll have a project in mind :)

After a little lunch, I think I'll have time to put together Mamaspark's package and get it to the post office before the school bus. That will mean I am free to sew tomorrow! Yeah!

Thanks JudyL for helping get everything done this week with a day to spare!
