Today is the fourth Saturday of September of the color black. It's also Table Scraps reveal day. This month was a bit of a challenge for me. The shape for the month was leaves.
I decided to go with fabric with leaves and I couldn't resist the squirrels with leaves at JAF. The bottom two place mats where orphan blocks that I added a little bit of border to reach Michigan Meals on Wheels size. I blogged about the original quilt here. I did bind the place mats in black so, I guess I met both challenges on my Meals on Wheels place mats.
A close up of the squirrels...eek! I'm in l💜ve!
pattern: top: checkerboard with squirrel fabric
bottom: MSQC Crossing Paths
quilting: diagonally on Baby Brother (my piecing machine)

What a fun combination. Such a great way to put those scraps to great use.
The squirrel print is wonderful! We all need some of that - the squirrels are all over our yard lately, getting fat for winter. Your placemats turned out great, Pat!
Always nice to see the table mats--the squirrel fabric is just too sweet!
Both sets of placemats turned out great, Pat! I thought I might piece she leaves, but went with leaf fabric for this month's TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry, too. Thanks for sharing your project with the challenge!
Aaah your placemats are adorable! I love your squirrel fabric- how cute!!!
