I finished and donated the two children's quilts I was working on.
Quilt #1 is the Construction Vehicles quilt.

Smaller quilts sure do sew up quickly! LOL
Here is the Construction trucks one, with the selvages on.
Here is it all trimmed up and ready for quilting.

oops...looks like I forgot to take the before quilting picture of the Tinkerbell quilt. Sorry, friends. :(

I pulled fabric for two children's quilts. The first one will be Mary's Quick Strippie.
The second one will be a Villa Rosa Design's Gingersnap.
This week I finished my two '4 Patch Posey' quilts.
First up is the red, pink and white flower print.
I had ordered a few bolts of backing fabric and it arrived last week while I was away. So I washed a few yards up and loaded the pink flower 4 patch posey on the long arm. I blogged about it here. I'm currently into the bandana print for backing. I have it in red, royal blue, black and orange. I'm considering adding a green to the stash.
After almost a week away from the sewing room, it was waiting for me exactly as I left it. The blocks from the latest project were ready to be sew into rows.
Soon, the rows were completed.
Now it was time to sew the rows together. I did a few sections at a time.
Next the center portion was all together. Here it measures approximately 52 x 70 inches.
...and that's a wrap! The end of AQS QuiltWeek 2023 Grand Rapids!
From our set up...
to the tear down...This is my friend, Rhesa who volunteers the whole show with me! Thank You to Rhesa!
I'm spending the night here in Grand Rapids Michigan before I head home to Bell Creek Quilts. Good thing as I misjudged the spacing on the stage and fell off backwards! It was quite a tumble. I have a few bumps and bruises but fortunately I landed on a wooden box and not the concrete floor....that would have been sooo much worse. :)
Hopefully I won't be too sore to sew and go to my other medical appointments. Fingers crossed!
Today is the third Saturday of September of the color aqua/teal.
Time for my North Winds blocks.

Well, I'm off on a 'sorta' quilting adventure! My SUV was loaded down or rather, up!
I set up the QOV booth yesterday. I'm at the AQS QuiltWeek Grand Rapids volunteering to help with the Quilt of Valor booth. You might recognize one or two or three of the quilts that are hanging! I left a spot open for the quilt that my partner was bringing to hang in the show. Just to the right of Lisa Sutherland's Freedom Bars and Stars is my 'clothesline'. Once a Signature Square has been signed, we hang it on the line to dry just a tad. Hopefully the black ink won't transfer to other squares. Today we had about 140 squares signed. That's almost 4 quilts and today was the first day!
A solemn day of remembrance. 22 years ago, life as we knew it in the USA changed. It seems fitting that my Design Wall Monday is my patriotic finish over the weekend.
Today is the second Saturday of September of the color teal/aqua.
Time for my house and hut. We are closing in on the end of this scrappy year, so it's time to start thinking about finishing the 2023 projects and new projects for RSC2024!
Here is my teal house. Hey look! There is a little red fox hiding in my house!

Here is my hut. Oh no! My hut must be in the flood zone as there is a turtle swimming around. :)
pattern: A miscut oops that turned into 'something' I liked.
Alycia posted awhile back about making a Batik Blue top. Alycia blogged about it here. I had made one similar years ago but Alycia wrote that hers was from a jelly roll. I blogged about my finished quilt here. So I decided to give it a go. The block on the left is made with 3.5 (cut) inch strips, the two on the right are made with 2.5 inch (cut) strips. This might be a fun block to make in the RSC2024...

I've been wanting to make this Lisa Sutherland pattern, Freedom Stars and Bars for awhile now. In my conversation with Lisa, she said that the pattern is not available yet but will be a free download later in the year. SHHHH...don't tell her but I pulled out my calculator and thinking hat... I think I probably 'saw this pattern' on a dead Pinterest link.
At my craft day and sewing day, I made a few 12.5 inch floating stars. I pulled out my stack of 3.5 inch Patriotic strips and some white. Here is the first part of the quilt.
I decided I wasn't liking all the red starts together, so I made a few blue stars. The colors might see a little bit unbalanced because I was making the red star units first. Here is the result.
Yesterday, a small group of MelonHeads (as my husband calls us!) went to the Creative Passions Quilt Retreat Craft Day. Here is the front of the Retreat Center...totally taken from their website!
