Finish or NOT Friday 4.15.2022

I finished this earlier in the week but saved it to post today.

Remember - I'm on Angelo the dog duty so not sew much sewing happening...

WIP Wednesday 4.13.2022

Thanks to Alycia and her Half Square Triangle project! Her collection of blocks were really instrumental to me in the making my blocks!

Ooops! This one needs to be ripped and fixed!

All better!

Here are my completed blocks. I've been working diligently as I am having company again. DD is dropping off Angelo -the dog- today and heading over to Grand Rapids for her wedding duties. That includes two -yes! two days and two nights!- without her MOM!! I don't think they have been separated overnight since DD rescued Angelo...

Design Wall Monday 4.11.2022

When the guild announced the Annual Quilt Challenge: Half Square Triangles, I groaned...I'm not real good at sewing those pesky triangle units! Then I got excited because I remembered Alycia provided a whole slew of blocks for her Half Square Triangle Project, found here.

Do you ever hear one thing and someone else hears another? Well, I think I misunderstood the parameters of the challenge but I've come to far to abandon what I am creating. LOL I heard, " Use black and white and up to three different accent colors-any shade or tone in that color family. It can be any size and must be a completed quilt...top, batting, backing, quilted and bound."

So I decided on 3.5 inch unfinished HST's as a 16 patch. My finished blocks in the quilt will be 12 inches. Since I needed a whole slew of black and white hst's, I used the tube method and an old Quilt In A Day ruler I had.

Here are the black and white blocks.

Hummm....back to the stash and I pulled various shades of gray and made more hst's.

I made a few more blocks trying to add a little variety.

I ended here when I ripped one block about three times because I kept sewing it very wonky!

QOV Sunday 4.10.2022

I thought I would post a few of the QOV's I've quilted done for the Casual Quilter's Guild. I receive these quilts as a bundle with the pieced top, a back and sometimes binding. No other information is given to me. So I don't know 'who' in the guild pieced the top or 'what' pattern was used. In any event, enjoy the eye candy!!

WIP Wednesday 4.6.2022

I'm making sawtooth stars using the blue crumbs as the centers. Here are the pieces laid out and ready for webbing.

Design Wall Monday 4.4.2022

First up, I finished the rest of my #heartsofhope blocks. I have 25 total. I'm not sure if I will ask my guild members to join in or just make more blocks. I'm almost thinking about making some 12.5 inch heart blocks to mix in...

pattern: Bonnie Hunter's #heartsofhope sew along.

note to self: I made fabric strata by cutting 1.5 inch strips.
blue: pieced 3: 1.5 inch strips together than sub-cut to 3.5 inches
yellow: pieced 6: 1.5 inch strips together than sub-cut to 6.5 inches
                    completed heart shapes as directed

Do you ever do 'something' in the sewing room because you need to 'use up' something?

Well, I had quite a few bobbins of dark thread that I was looking to use for Baby. I also wanted to make blocks that showcased the crumbs. <lightbulb moment>

I pulled out my dark to medium blue scraps.

I was able to make 38 crumb blocks! I cut my crumb blocks at 6.5 inches square.

But, I still had quite a few pieces of the blues that were cut-offs from the first set of blocks. So, like a good quilter, I proceeded to make 31 more darker blue crumb blocks. I'm actually liking the second set better than the first set.

I was happy! All I had left are a few of the starter pieces for future blocks. Only thing, I used up just about all the darker blues from the scrap box. Not to Worry! The box is still full of the light blues! LOL

My plan is to make star blocks with the crumbs as the centers and use with this eagle panel. This is my fabric pull for
this quilt.

pattern inspiration: Once again, I have a photo in my library with no identification.
I can only guess 'where' I saw this one...Pinterest or Facebook?

On a fun note: I won a t-shirt from the FB QOV Working Stars group for sewing along on the QOV National Sew Day and it arrived today! I'll be 'styling' when I go to sew with the local QOV group! I think it's a rather generous size!! Plenty of room to sew, iron and cut! LOL

Thanks for making it to the end of a rather long post...Somehow it just grew and grew....

Finish or NOT Friday 4.1.2022

No FOOLING! I have a Finish!

May I present to you: Quilt 4 in my Shout Color Catcher quilt series. I really like how this has an unexpected twist...the strings are the sashing and the plain larger squares for your eye rest.

I decided to join in on Bonnie Hunter's Hearts of Hope Sew-Along. Instead of paper piecing the blue heart tops, I merely cut 1.5 inch strips of various blues. I sewed the strips into groups of three for a 3.5 inch strata. I then sub-cut the strata into 3.5 inch units. I did the flip and sew of the top squares. Pressed and cut away the extra and sewed into the heart top units. The next step...yellow heart bottoms should be released sometime today!
