Today is the third Saturday of November of Assembly!

Time for my North Winds blocks...I had quite a few blocks to fill in the design. I needed at least 52 blocks in order to be eligible for the Challenge drawing. The idea is to make one block a week = 52 blocks. This meant I needed to add more blocks and the easiest way was to add a single row and make it in a straight set. 

This is sure A.LOT.OF.HST's!!!

I'm unsure if I want to add a white border. I tend to make my bindings a little larger and would definitely be hiding most of the hst's points...I suppose I have a full 3 weeks to make that decision. LOL

Finish or NOT Friday 11.17.2023

I finished piecing the Santa Kitty to a flimsy this week. I did add a polka dot border to make it a tad bigger

I decided to make a few more bibs for the MelonHeads. The end of the month meeting is the only time the bibs will be collected. I decided not at add batting, I just went for the fabric and terry cloth backing. Baby had a hard enough time sewing through the terry cloth. Mary said she will bring her snaps and snap all the bibs that are turned in at the meeting. Thanks Mary!

WIP Wednesday 11.15.2023

The day started out by sewing with the MelonHeads. Today's project was a bib. I took more parts to make a few at home in the next few weeks.

                                larger so baby will be able to grow into it.

I made the side borders for the Santa kitty quilt. Now to sew it together.

I also pulled out another RSC2023 project: North Winds. I have quite a few blocks to fill in. In order to be eligible for the prize, there needs to be 52 blocks in your quilt. You see, the plan is to make one block a week for the year. This setting has 56 blocks!

Here we go! Now I need to sew it to a flimsy!

Design Wall Monday 11.13.2023

Lynn, our Michigan Quilt of Valor leader, posted the veterans that we had the honor of awarding Quilts of Valor ceremony at the Original Quilting and Sewing Expo. The gentleman on the right was awarded a quilt that I had made from start to finish!

I pulled out one of my Christmas panels to work on this week. I forgot to take the picture before I added the first border and a few 'go withs'. I'm going to make Villa Rosa's Grand Prize pattern.

SoScrappy Saturday 11.11.2023

I spent another day volunteering at the Quilt of Valor booth at the Original Quilting and Expo Show. 

I took a a couple pictures of the booth yesterday that I forgot to post. We were fortunate to have a large space and two 8 foot tables. One table was set up to gather Signature blocks for future Quilts of Valor and the other table was set up for our fabric fundraiser. Lynn, the Michigan coordinator, is gifted fabric. If the fabric is not suitable for QOV, she cuts it into 1/2 yards and asks for a goodwill donation of $1.00/cut. We had such a positive response that Lynn brought her cutting station to the show so our table was continually being refilled!

Lynn did award 5 Quilts of Valor today. I'm patiently waiting for Lynn to post to FB so I can 'steal' her picture of today's featured veterans...

Now for my RSC2023...Today is the second Saturday of November of assembly.

Finish or NOT Friday (on Saturday!) 11.11.2023

I volunteered all day at the Quilt of Valor booth at the Original Quilting and Sewing Expo yesterday and when I got home, I had forgotten to charge my laptop! 

Here is the check in area of the show.

Earlier in the week, I took the long arm for a test sew. I loaded up one of my leader/enders comfort quilts. I'm happy to report, the long arm is sewing really, really nice.  So far, so good! I went for yellows/florals as a little variety from the standard red, white and blue leaders and enders projects.

I also finished two placemats for Meals on Wheels using a few scraps of my Thanksgiving Gnome fabric.

WIP Wednesday 11.8.2023

In keeping with the November assembly theme for RSC2023, I pulled out my huts.

I'm just going to set this as is...no trees...as I am keeping this one for me! It will be another example of a block that can be made with crumbs.

Design Wall Monday 11.6.2023

I pulled out my houses for RSC2023 as November is assembly month.

 I did make a few tress. Unfortunately, the first two looked like lollipops! I adjusted the corners to 3.5 inch square and that helped to line up the foliage to the trunk a little better.

SoScrappy Saturday 11.4.2023

Today is the first Saturday of November of assembly! Time to get my collections of blocks together and sew. First up are a few of my Happy Blocks. I first saw this setting on Cynthia Brunz's blog Quilting is More Fun than Housework, here. This one turned out a little narrow and long, the next one will probably be one row less. If I remember! LOL

I still have a rather large pile of 4.5 inch novelty squares so I am planning on continuing making Happy Blocks for RSC2024. It feels good to settle on at least one block for RSC2024. :)
