Finish or NOT Friday 5.13.2022

Angelo's Stars is a finish. YAY!

panto: serpentine

The back is a conglomeration of a few different prints. I had a miscalculation and I ended up with the final black border not included in the quilting.

There are a few dog bones.

There are robins in the snow with worms.

There are creepy kitties whose eyes follow you.

There are bunnies.

There are cupcakes.

There are cardinals in snowy evergreen branches.

And there are paw prints, oh my!

WIP Wednesday 5.11.2022

I was able to sewn down the binding on the crayon quilt, blogged about here. This one will get it's beauty shot before I send it on it's way for the H2H Quilt Drive.

I also finished piecing the pink and teal star quilt.

I now need to finish puzzling together a back for this quilt. Here's what I have so far. I think this back will take as long as the front, oh my!

Design Wall Monday 5.9.2022

DD requested a quilt last week.

My prompts are: pink, teal and black, no borders so entirely pieced and a variety of 'things' on the back, twin size. Some 'things' are dog bones, ducks and sweet treats. Yes, you are right. It's a quilt to decorate Ang's new cage. Ang was getting anxious in the apartment now that the weather is a little warmer so DD brought her a cage. or as DD likes to call it, 'her house'!

I don't have a lot of yardage of pink and teals...both have already been an RSC2022 color of the month...so I did same retail therapy. Here is the shopping haul...in the dryer!  LOL    I AM A PRE-WASHER...

I knew I wanted a block that was pretty straight forward because I will making a lot of them! I decided on my wonky meets floating star as those are pretty quick for me to make. Every day in the sewing room, my goal was to make 5 blocks at any one sitting. Here is a pretty good start about midweek.

When I got this far, I realized I didn't have enough background for all 35 blocks. I subbed in another black and was going put 4 in the corners to look like that was the plan. As I was putting fabrics away to tidy up for our Mother's Day party, I found just enough of the background tucked under a pile of pink. teals and yellow to have all the background match better. On Saturday, this is where I left off to get ready for Mother's Day.

This week's task will be to assemble, create a backing, quilt and bind. Sometimes when I piece a back with multiply fabrics, the back takes longer to create than the front...

SoScrappy Saturday 5.7.2022

Today is the first Saturday of May of the month of SAGE/FOREST GREEN!

Normally, I would post my crumb hearts but they didn't get done this week. 😢 I did manage to piece s few crumb blocks so that I am ready to piece the hearts when I have time. I also pieced the 'Missing U' block from Cheryl Arkison's Sunday Morning Quilts with the crumb blocks!

I made a square in a square for the center. It just might be 'a little too organized' for this quilt. Time will tell.

Finish or NOT Friday 5.6.2022

Happy Friday!

Happy Finish!

Here is the Staggered Shout Color Catcher foundation pieced blocks quilt. OH! She needs a shorter name! This is actually #6 in my series of Shout Color Catcher foundation pieced blocks. This will be the last one for awhile as I start 'other' projects.

pattern inspiration: I only had a picture of this layout. If this is your design, PLEASE

WIP Wednesday 5.4.2022

I finished sewing the Staggered set of the Shout Color Catcher foundation blocks. I did a small inner border and a wider stars border.

As I was looking at it, I felt the stars were overpowering the rest of the quilt. Instead of removing the stars totally, I simply sliced it so that it would end up as a 1 inch border then added another wider border of the background.

I thought this looked better.

L👀K! I even pressed the seams open on the rows to help reduce bulk.

May's color for the RSC2022 is sage/forest green. I dug into the green box and fabric cupboard and found a few fabrics I think will work. As usual, a few lights found their way into the pile.

My first order of business was to make a few crumb blocks.

Now that the crumb blocks are made, I can continue with my monthly blocks.

Design Wall Monday 5.2.2022

I've decided to work on the last Shout Color Catcher foundation pieced quilt. I have a little darker gray that I am going to use and hopefully, the scraps will play nicely. LOL This will be quilt 6.

The fabric draw.

This is the pattern I will be duplicating. I was going to so a simple surround the blocks with background but then I saw this Staggered setting dated 2009! It's been waiting the better part of 13 years for me to make! yikes...

Again, no real information included just a few cryptic notes of 'dryer sheets and 3/3/2009' and my current notes on piecing it. If this is your design, PLEASE comment and let me know so 'I can give credit where credit is due"!
