Today is the second Saturday of July of the color purple!
Time for my wonky stars. I only found two purples to use but they sure are pretty!

Woo-Hoo!
I have a finish or two or three!
First up is my Warm Crumbs quilt. I suppose I should give it a better name...hot tamale or flames or ??
My warm crumb blocks didn't take too much time to sew together. I swapped out a few blocks and tried to keep the darker reds towards the outside.
Since I am up to date with the Casual Quilters Quilts of Valor, the schedule on the long arm is wide open. For some reason, I had the urge to find fire trucks to put on the back of this quilt. Lucky for me, the holiday sales were in full swing AND I was left alone at Bell Creek Quilts. I did find a backing that had fire trucks and various first responder vehicles.

Not only that but today was binding day! I will have a finish (or maybe two to share on Friday! - it's been awhile since I have shown a completed quilt!)
HAPPY 4th of JULY, USA!
I wasn't liking the really light peach in my orange crumbs.
Sew...out came the rotary cutter and darker oranges. Yes! I like this better!

I have a few more Quilts of Valor to share from the Casual Quilters. I receive these quilts as a bundle of a top, backing and sometimes a binding. The Casual Quilters provide me with a roll of batting to use on their quilts. The only catch is that I don't know who pieced the quilt and pattern used.
Quilt A.
Today is the first Saturday of July of the color PURPLE! I love purple but sadly, I don't seem to sew very often with purple.
Here are the crumby hearts and cut-offs that I worked on earlier in the week.

My oldest brother was in town and asked if I would join him and my SIL for lunch before they flew out. YES! You don't need to ask me twice! My other three brothers (who are local) and one SIL all met for lunch. It was a fun impromptu visit. The only sibling that was missing was my older sister who lives in the hills of Virginia.
I finished piecing the soaring eagle and it's waiting for a turn on the long arm. I have three more Casual Quilters Guild QOVs to finish and then I will start on my quilts! I think I have something that will work for the back of the soaring eagle but maybe not! LOL It depends on what color thread I decided to use.
Here is the soaring eagle flimsy.

As the days get closer to my November presentation, I feel like I need to concentrate more on having quilts to show! It will be here before I know it!! Not quite to the panic stage, just to the slightly concerned stage. LOL
Here is my take on the next block I am highlighting with crumbs. It's a variation of Falling Charms from the Missouri Star Quilt Company. I realized if you place blocks around a panel...then you don't need as many blocks! I know, I'm brilliant....NOT! Just goofy! 😍
This is my reference sheet for the placement of the blocks I was following. I blogged about the flimsy here.
The fabric pull for the next quilt project. The blue and green crumbs from a few weeks ago along with an eagle panel, a muted tan and pretty blue for the binding...maybe. I just might change my mind about the binding when it comes to that step.

We headed to northern lower Michigan to my in-law's cottages in Grayling on Friday. Saturday was the Little Traverse Bay Quilt Guild Show in Harbor Springs, Michigan and about 30 minutes north through the scenic M118 (the Tunnel of the Trees) is located a fun Polish restaurant called Leg's Inn. I asked DH to be my driver to the show and restaurant and spend the day with me. Since his parents are at the cottage, his Mom came along with us.
The show was held at a church in downtown Harbor Springs, it was a really nice venue. There were more quilts than I expected, the guild boutique area was larger and the vender space was what I expected. At the entrance was this statue of an alter boy with the quilt behind him. I thought it was cute.
A few of the quilts in no particular order. I loved that a few of the members had made the same pattern yet put their own individual stamp on their quilt. My MIL stepped into the picture...I didn't share that she is now in the blog!
Here is a one block wonder but using different colorways of the same print.
Can you tell I am drawn to the brights?! DH likes the muted tones of Civil War prints and 30's.
Look, Mama's Park!, I found done of your published patterns!
No food pictures but we did walk to the overlook. It was a bit hazy but still pretty.
On our way back to the cottage, DH decided to take a few smaller back roads and a huge black bear ran across the road about 100 feet in front of us! No photo evidence...I was too stunned to see a black bear in the wild!
All is all, it was a fun day spent with DH and MIL. I am looking forward to more days like Saturday when DH retires in about 5-7 years.
